Diri
They may be wearing ARAB clothes - but KURDS wear skirts too... I am not sure about the clothes THEY were wearing Roller - I saw that program too... And the HATS were Kurdish - but the rest of the outfit I am not sure about except the false "hair locks" that were black hanging from their hats - they were Kurdish too...

Roller
are you thick or do you pretend to be?
I am telling you they werent kurdish or fokloric clothes , just your regular dishdasha and the 3egal...No hair locks no nothing, we didnt watch the same program , coz what you're talking about is different , it probably was nothing coz i wouldnt put that past you...

I am starting to wonder if YOU are thick - how about you read the NEXT post and not comment TWICE on the SAME post ;)

Read the rest of the thread - we are way past that part now.. maybe you wanna keep track of the discussion ?

Mosul - we aren't talking about the same clothes then... I saw them wearing "Koloz" with two or three dreads hanging from their koloz - looking like false hair - and they had a jakket that was all the way down over their butts - and a long skirt. The jakket had long arms and they were wearing "Lewendî" the girls were wearing simple "Kiras" in white with silver glitter... and they hade nice "kofî'es" on their heads...

I will try to find some pictures to show you what I mean :D

Ummm...why would anyone actually care?

Is there a law against that?

Did anyone think that some might dress like Arabs because they are a people that total what?...800,000...and perhaps someone way back decided they should try to blend in with their primary oppressors since they were always trying to call them Satan worshipers? Perhaps they wanted to fit in rather than die? They did not change their beliefs so they just changed their clothing style?

What is the implication? That they aren't Kurds because they dress like Arabs? GREAT! Tolerance abounds!

I don't mean to be snappy Mosul, I'm just worrying about the situation in Southern Kurdistan, and I want a magic wand so I can protect eveyone. I want everyone to stop cursing and start building. I want everyone to "JUST SAY NO TO TERRORISM" and a whole bunch of things I do not have the ability to do. This makes idle wondering difficult for me, but I should not take it out on you. It's normal to wonder, and it's good for you too....so it's just me I guess. Sorry.

Right! I agree Emunnah - except I STILL believe they were Kurdish clothes - at elast the ones I saw.. but I get your point - what difference does it make?

but just in case - here is a link to a search- you see two pictures of Êzidi dancing - http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=yezidi&toggle=1&ei=UTF-8&imgsz=all&fr=FP-tab-img-t&b=41

I really don't want to see the day come when we all dress alike. When I was a flight attendant, I used to take my lunch up to the International departures section of the international airport. I would sit there and watch the beautiful dress, the colors, the henna on the hands, the braids, and the sweeping robes of various colors and it always made me happy to see these differences. We have too many Michael Jackson t-shirts and bluejeans these days for my taste.

You mean the military one?
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.
