The case follows the acquittal of Alan Osman in 2012, who ran over western tourist John Daniels with his Hilux outside Erbil’s main Bazaar after overhearing Daniel’s remark that the combination of grilled minced meat, grilled tomatoes, unleavened bread and chilli on offer at Kebab Yassin was “not much different” from the grilled minced meat, grilled tomatoes, unleavened bread and chilli served by “every other restaurant in Kurdistan.”

“Extreme gastronomic flattery is at the heart of Kurdish culture,” said a travel advisory notice issued today by the US State Department. “We can only offer extremely limited consular assistance to anyone who traduces it.”

If Kurds take their cooking so seriously - then why is it they serve such almost inedible rubbish in their Kebab shops
