Suli, June 13 (AKnews)- Celebrated South Korean actor Jun Kwang Ryul, who played the role of Dr. Hur Jun, the hero of Epic Doctor, a TV drama, has arrived in Suli and planned to visit the historic sites of Kurdistan.
The drama, dubbed into Kurdish by private Xawe company, was aired by Kurd Sat satellite channel two months ago. It had a wide following in Kurdistan.
Ryul will hold a press conference tomorrow in Slemani Palace Hotel and will reveal the details of his visit to Kurdistan, a source from Kurd Sat said.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the South Korean actor has planned to visit a number of archeological sites in Kurdistan and to meet for discussions with his counterparts in the region.
Xawe Company for Art Production which dubbed the Epic Doctor and Jomung TV dramas, in which Ryul plays the key roles, invited the actor to visit the region. The South Korean consulate in Kurdistan also arranged the entry of the actor.
Pshtiwan Hassan, head of Xawe company, said after the company noticed that the Epic Doctor had a huge audience, they thought about inviting the hero of the drama.
This is a very good step and will establish ties between the Kurdish and foreign artists, said Safeen Anwar, drama director in Suli.
Anwar added "this step, disregard of the party who takes it, will eventually benefit the arts state of our nation, especially now that Kurdish is opening up [to the outside world] for its arts."
