I wonder if she every writes songs herself.

She doesn't need to. This is a traditional song. No young female singer has such a talent and ability like Aynur does to sing a song like this one.
God bless Karapetê Xaço. kak Dyaoko, if you didn't know this singer, Karapetê Xaço is a legend of Dengbêj. He just recently passed away from old age. An interesting thing about him is that he was actually born Armenian and he lost his entire family to the Armenian genocide when he was a child, but he was saved and raised by a Kurdish family.
