Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday hosted world-renowned Kurdish boxer Agit Kabayel in Erbil, celebrating his recent victory and emphasizing continued support for Kurdish athletes on the international stage
In a statement, the Kurdistan Regional Government said PM Barzani congratulated Kabayel on winning the WBC interim heavyweight title in February during a bout held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Prime Minister praised the boxer’s accomplishments and extended his best wishes for future success.

Based in Germany, Kabayel has made a name for himself in the heavyweight division with a string of impressive victories, earning respect as one of the top Kurdish athletes in the world of boxing.
Moreover, Prime Minister Barzani also met with renowned Kurdish sculptor Shwan Kamal on Tuesday, applauding his significant contributions to art and culture.
He praised Kamal’s sculptures, which are showcased in cities across the Kurdistan Region and several European countries, particularly Germany and Sweden. He highlighted the vital role of supporting Kurdish artists and promoting cultural expression on both local and international levels.
Kamal, in turn, thanked the Prime Minister for his support, saying such recognition serves as a source of motivation for Kurdish artists working in the region and abroad.
Originally from Sulaymaniyah, Kamal was born in 1967 and graduated with honors in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad in 1991. He has lived in Germany since 1995, where he continues to create and exhibit his art.
