Masoud Barzani's Statement Regarding Baghdad Sanctions on KRG
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region: Today, February 25, Massoud Barzani, President of Kurdistan Region, in a welcome meeting with Faruk Kaymakçı, Ambassador of Turkey in Baghdad, reiterating that Maliki's sanctions on KRG are illegal, and they are considered as war announcement against the region.
Barzani also said that cutting the employees' salaries is not in anyone's authority.
On the instabilities that face a number of Iraqi cities especially Anbar, Barzani stated that all the political pending issues and security instabilities are because of the wrong way that Iraqi officials handle these issues.
The President of Kurdistan Region emphasized on that Kurds have a history with Shiite people; therefore, Kurds do not have problems with the Shiite people but with the leaders that govern Iraq.
Another part of the discussion went on the development of KRG`s relations with Turkey.
Barzani insisted on that KRG`s oil exports and deals are not against the Iraqi constitution, stating that this is KRG's constitutional right.
On his side, the Turkish ambassador revealed that Turkey's relations with KRG are very important for them, and Turkey wishes to strengthen these relations with KRG in terms of energy.
Kaymakçı said that the stability in the region compared to other parts of Iraq is what encourages Turkish companies to come and invest in Kurdistan Region.
