Kurdish cleric Mullah Shwan joined Islamic State with his wife and children last November
Kurdish cleric Mullah Shwan, who joined Islamic State (IS) with his wife and children last November, is known to have persuaded Kurdish youths to join the extremist group.
BasNews has learned that the Mullah, who preached in an Erbil neighbourhood before he joined IS, convinced two youths to join the Jihadi group.
Rawand and Muhsin Tariq were residents of Daratoo, a southern Erbil neighborhood.
Rawand was a student at the Salahaddin University College of Arabic Language, and Muhsin worked in an Erbil hospital.
They both travelled with Mullah Shwan to join IS, but it wasn’t until Rawand phoned his family from Mosul that they discovered the two had joined the extremists.
There has been no further contact or information from them.
Last week Mullah Shwan appeared in a video claiming to be with IS militants in Kirkuk province, northern Iraq, saying they will target Erbil and soon be “in the capital”.

I think that the corporation of Kurdish mollahs and preachers should have a serious theological-cleaning and under serious investigations from the Asayish.
