Gorran Movement demands recognition for Kurds at Geneva IIErbil: Representatives of the Gorran Movement in Iraqi Kurdistan and Iraqi parliaments have stated that the Kurds should be recognised and permitted to participate at the Geneva II conference as an independent delegation, otherwise the Kurds will not be represented.
According to a report from DİHA, parliamentarians from the Gorran Movement said that a conference that fails to recognise and accept the Kurds would be doomed to failure. Intensive security measures in Sulêmanî's prisonsSulêmanî: After threatens received by the federal Ministry of Justice by the terrorist groups which threatened to break-in several prisons, security forces in Sulêmanî had intensified security measures at Susa prison and Chamchamal federal prison in case of terrorist attacks.
An official in Chamchamal prison said, Sunday, January 19, 2014, "we had been informed by the federal Ministry of Justice that al-Qaida terrorist group of ISIL have the intention to break-in several prisons including Susa and Chamchamal prisons in Sulêmanî" stressing that security forces had taken their measures to face any terrorist attack.

Emirates Red Crescent opens Syrian refugees' camp in Erbil, KurdistanErbil: A new Syrian refugees' camp was opened Sunday by Erbil Governor Nawzad Hadi and UAE Consul in Kurdistan region Rashid al-Mansouri. Iraqi Government sends army to disputed regionKhurmatu: An Iraqi delegation, headed by Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Hussain al-Shahristani, has been sent to Tuz Khurmatu, a town in the Salahaddin Province of Iraq, located 55 miles south of Kirkuk. Iraqi army troops were sent along with Shahristani, who arrived to the town in the disputed region of Northern Iraq by helicopter. With his arrival, the army has spread throughout the town.
