*Syrian Kurdish forces take control of the oil-rich cities o

*DERIK*, Syrian Kurdistan,—According to various Kurdish sources on the ground in western Kurdistan (Syrian Kurdistan), including Ronahî TV the oil rich city of Rimêlan, which lies on the road between Tirbespîyê and Dêrik, in has been almost entirely liberated, ANF reported.

During the early hours of Friday, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) conducted a coordinated operation, which eventually allowed them to seize a number of official buildings, including the police headquarters and the Baath party’s headquarter.

YPG has liberated Tirbespiyê from baath regime force. Government buildings including the military headquarters was surrounded and soon surrendered to the YPG. Both, Ramelan and Tirbespiye have liberated from the regime forces and now controlled by Kurdish forces YPG.

Meanwhile Syrian troops retook on Friday a checkpoint on the northeastern border with Syria, captured a day earlier by Islamic Jihadist fighters of Al-Nusra Front, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Friday, AFP reported.

The rebels had overrun the post at Yaarubiyeh in oil-rich Hassakeh province on Thursday after fierce clashes, the Britain-based Observatory said.

"Government forces succeeded in retaking the Yaarubiyeh crossing less than 24 hours after it was taken by fighters from the Al-Nusra Front" and other rebel elements, the Observatory said.

They also "captured half of the city of Yaarubiyeh," it added.

Al-Nusra Front, an increasingly influential factor in Syria's conflict, also took control of the nearby town of Shaddadeh and surrounding villages in mid-February.

The border crossing was controlled by rebel forces last year before the army recaptured it.

Rebels of the mainstream Free Syrian Army have told AFP that Al-Nusra fighters, despite their small numbers, have greater economic and logistical support than other insurgents and funding from abroad.

The jihadist group targets strategic points mainly in eastern Syria, including oil and gas facilities, and draws recruits from the local population by paying them a salary.

It aspires to create an Islamic state in Syria, whose regime accuses Saudi Arabia and Qatar of financing Islamist fighters in the two-year-old conflict that the UN says has killed at least 70,000 people.

I know that the Kurds in Syria, I often refer to them as the forgotten Kurds, are probably the most strongly motivated of all the Kurds. They have been trying to declare independence for more years than I can remember GOOD LUCK to them :ymhug:

Yes the Kurds of what is known as Bilad Al-Sham (greater Syria) are forgotten, and by other Kurds too. But they are rising back from the ashes, and will re-claim there place in history. They are descendents of great leaders and fighters, and they are ambitious.

I'll try to find time to look at that book thanks. These Kurds geographic range is well beyond Kurdistan (WK) were they came from, for hundreds of years they have been expanding West and South West.

Unfortunately, they never seem to have the publicity other Kurds do. And most of the recent news about Syria does not even mention the poor Kurds
