Talabani’s role important for the stability Iraq and the region: Salehi tells visiting Hiru Khan
Tehran- The Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi praised the pivotal role of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani in Iraq and the whole region’s stability, wishing the ailing president’s wellbeing.
Receiving Talabani’s wife Hiru Ibrahim Ahmad, whom the Kurds call Hiru Khan, and her accompanying delegation in Tehran on Sunday, Salehi praised Talabani’s political role in stabilizing Iraq and making compromises between different blocs and lines of the country.
He further wished the welfare of the ailing president who is hospitalized in Berlin Charite hospital after a severe heart stroke in December.
Salehi expressed his optimism that all Iraq lines and groups would attempt to keep their country’s stability and security.
Hiru Khan also a member of PUK and a women who many believe will displace Talabani for Iraq’s presidency, appreciated Iran’s role in solving Iraq’s problems.
She further thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran’s special attentions to Talabani’s wellbeing and recovery.
She met Iranian Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili before meeting Salehi and is due to meet Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani during her two days visit to Tehran.
