The first survivor of Anfal was a teenger, rescued and taken care by an Arab family. Later some how came back to Kurdistan, grew up and became a Peshmerga fighting Saddam Hussein.

Apparently, there was a second Anfal survivor, who was a mother, rescued by a shepherd and taken care by an Arab village. She stayed in the village in disguise for 18 years until the liberation of Iraq. She passed away a few days ago.

I wonder why nothing has been mentioned about her in Kurdistan media!

I've heard their story from Ahmad Bamarni, a PUK representative, in 1994, in Erbil, He collected such stories. These Arab families were Bedouins. Among them there was an officer in Iraqi army who helped the young man to hide and leaned a uniform or an identity (i am not sure to remember exactly).

The young one was among hundred of men who were brought to desert in truck and shot by Saddam's army. He survived, and by night escaped from the grave and found a refuge when Bedouins sheltered him. We have to remember what these Bedouins faced when they hide and rescued Kurds. Really brave people.

Later I think the guy was was killed in Civil War ( a tragic pity !). I am not sure it was him because Ahmad Bamarni told me there were 3 survivors and one of them was killed. But I think it was him who died later in this stupid brakushti after having escaped to Anfal.

I haven't heard about three survivors. Before I heard only the story of the teenager. The story of Kake Rehma, a name given to her by her rescuers, is a second survivor.

But still I don't understand the mystery why she has not been mentioned by any one, especially media, although she became a legend of the people rescued her. I assume because she was a woman and stayed with strangers for 18.00 years. What a shame!!!
