Kirkuk: Drug use among students

Illegal drugs are being spread widely in Kirkuk to an extent that they are reaching the students of primary and elementary schools, according to the chief of the Drug Enforcement Department.

Colonel Nawzad Saladin, the chief of the department told Kirkuk Now “The use of illegal drugs is widespread among Kirkuk to such an extent that they are being used among the students of universities, high schools and even elementary and primary schools.”

“The spread of drugs among students is a wakeup call, as according to the records of the Kirkuk Azadi Hospitals only in 2012, 41 persons were recorded as being addicted to alcohol and sedatives as they have used alcohol and sedatives to get away from their addictions on drugs.”

He also addressed that 268 persons have been arrested in the past two years and charged with using and drug dealing.
