Barzani in Baghdad for talks with top officials

President Masoud Barzani of the Kurdistan region has arrived in Baghdad and was greeted by the Deputy Prime Minister Rozh Nuri Shawaish and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hoshyar Zebari.

Barzani arrived at Baghdad airport this morning, July 7, and is set to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi, the leader of the Supreme Council Ammar al-Hakim and Sadrist leaders, according to the Rudaw website.

Barzani’s meeting is following Maliki’s last visit to the Kurdistan region on June 9. Discussions on the recent disputes between Baghdad and Erbil over the constitution, oil, and the Peshmarga forces are anticipated during Barzani’s current visit to Baghdad.
