“We have fiercely repelled Salafi groups who attacked Kurdish enclaves of Tel Hassel , Tel Aran and Tal Abyad,” Saleh Muslim Mohammad, Secretary-General of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) told Al-Alam TV news channel on Monday.
He said that the Kurdish community fight against Salafists and do not consider them Muslims, because Muslim will never commit such criminal acts and atrocities.
“Various armed groups claim to be free but salafists and al-Nusra Fronts are neither freedom-seekers nor have an organized army,” the secretary general told Al-Alam.
The Kurdish community in northern Syria announced a three-day truce on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, but the anti-government opposition groups did not act in conformity with the ceasefire.
