Kurdish Presidency Divan Director Fouad Hussein stated that "our policy is not to interfere militarily", expressing his belief that the Kurds in Syria have their defenders.
"The Kurds may not need military units, but might need other types of support", he added.
Hussein pointed out that "the Iraqi region government may assist in coordinating international assistance".
He expected more refugees to come, pointing that about 40.000 Syrian refugees arrived during the past two weeks.
But, he expressed his fears that "if the Kurds left their areas, there will be no Kurdish question in Syria and we will lose that part of Kurdistan".
