Iraq rejects using its land against Kurds in Turkey, MP

BAGHDAD/ Aswat la-Iraq: Parliamentary Foreign Relations Commission MP Imad Youkhana said that "dialogue is the best way to solve the Kurdish question in Turkey", stressing Iraqi rejection to use its lands if Turkey resorted to military solution.

In a press statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, he added that "the Kurdish question in Turkey cannot be solved by military means, because the region cannot stand another crisis", referring to the Syrian question.

He added that Iraq does not to want further deterioration in relations with Turkey following the recent rapprochement after the visit of Iraqi parliament speaker Usama Nujaifi.

Yesterday, the Turkish parliament proposed extension for another year to "attack possible targets of the PKK stationed along the Iraqi Kurdish territories".

The decision was taken despite the peace negotiations between the two sides and Turkish decision to make some reforms to expand the rights of the minorities.

The PKK believes that the right to learn Kurdish language is not enough and demanded teaching the language in public schools, autonomous rule, releasing thousands of imprisoned Kurds and recognition of the Kurdish identity in the Turkish institution.
