The Syrian Kurds’ Popular Support Committees made considerable advances in Tal Half and Asfar Najar in Hasaka province by driving out terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) from those regions.
The Syrian Kurdish fighters have intensified their attacks against the Al-Qaeda-linked terrorists in the past two months.
Last week, the Kurdish fighters seized the sole border post held by Al-Qaeda-linked groups on their border with Iraq, Kurdish sources and an Iraqi official said.
Kurdish militants seized the border post after three days of clashes with an Al-Qaeda-linked group which had held the crossing since March.
The Yarubiya post and surrounding areas in the Northeast were taken from the ISIL terrorists. An Iraqi intelligence official confirmed that Kurdish rebels held the crossing point, adding that Baghdad brought reinforcements to the area to prevent any spillover of violence.

Iran or Russia, probably. When Bashar will fell, Iran might hope to maintain a 'pawn-area- in Syria, so a PYD-Land. But it will last as so long as there is no agreement between Iran and Turkey. People not remember enough what happened in Algiers in 1975.

From America
Why should we worry where they get it? The important thing is that they have it and they are doing a good job with it professionally like any other army.
But don't be surprised if it is from source similar to America. Ideological change of the region have turned geographical disadvantages of Kurdistan upside down in favour of Kurds. The fear of extremists controlling the region have created nightmares for the West and the West sees Kurds as the only factor to neutralise this threat. So don't be surprised about the real source of this good weapons.
Syria will never go back as it was before civil war. Alewites, Beshar Assad, will never again control Syria like before. It is a good opportunity for Kurds to exploit them.

No need to get all stirred up in your silly conspiracies about where PYD gets its weapons. Those tanks and other heavy weapoons are captured material. I do not have to remind you who they are fighting and who is arming the Al Nusra/ISIS gangs.

I think most of the heavy weapons were captured from the Syrian army and or or captured from the rebels.
And many YPG members were on the Surian army at I've time, were they received training.
Once I start seeing YPG using more sophisticated weaponry, then we start guessing who moght be sending, but as for now, it all looks like it was from Syria

They are all Russian made Syrian Army tanks, captured or given to them is not important. The important thing is that they have them and doing a good job with them. Good luck to them. Shame I am not with them.

Salih Muslim is Putin's man at Geneva Conference, so it would not be so surprising if Russia gave them weapons as they did to Baath. The question is not even who support PYD (everybody knows) but how many time it will last.

They have some 14-15 tanks in total. The biggest part of them were captured around Aleppo and Yarubiya and some also when SAA soldiers defected from Menagh air base to YPG areas. If Russia really wanted to arm YPG, they would have done it in their hundreds just like they do with SAA and just like Turkey/Qatar/SA is doing with FSA.

I remember that during the civil war in S. Kurdistan, both Turkey and Iran gave the same kind of support to KDP and PUK : they helped their chosen pawn to fight and to not lost against the other, but as soon as their own 'Kurdish horse' was becoming too powerful, they withdraw or lower their support. Both countries were concerned to maintain a balance and a statu-quo : Kurds should be strong enough to annoy the enemy, but not too strong because a Kurdish independance is their common nightmare.

True, but the pendulum swings in two directions, who's to say that in the end, it will not be the Kurds on top. And Kurds are nobody pawns, and never really were.

The only 2 things that we know for certain are:
that we do not know exactly what is going on nor do we know for certain or who is supplying whom with weapons
innocent people are dying but nobody seems to be talking about peace anymore
