Hyatt heads for Kurdistan

PostAuthor: Aslan » Tue Nov 05, 2013 1:33 am

Hyatt Hotels has signed a management agreement with Claremont Group, a New York-based real estate development company, for a Hyatt Regency hotel in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The 220-room property is expected to open in 2017 and will be the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Iraq.

"Kurdistan is a stable and prosperous area of Iraq, and as a result the economy is growing and demand for lodging accommodations is rising," said Peter Norman, a senior vice president for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Located in the city of Sulaymaniyah, 210 miles northeast of Baghdad, Hyatt Regency Sulaymaniyah will be the only hotel in Hawary Shar Park, a 240-acre leisure and entertainment park currently under development, which will include a shopping mall, a golf course and zoo.

I think that it is wonderful the way Kurdistan continues to grow in prosperity - the fact that the Kurdistan is now so stable it can build an enormous leisure park and have a Hyatt Hotel in it is an amazing improvement :ymapplause:

Has anyone ever actually asked the Kurds living in Turkey if they would rather have their own self-governed or independent and live a life of freedom as those in Kurdistan - or do they really want to be third class TURKS X(
