Women make preparations for November 25

The women’s rights organizations in Kirkuk are making their preparations for the upcoming International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence.

Srood Muhammad, a women’s rights activist told Kirkuk Now “We are preparing for November 25 as we will carry out different activities for the elimination of violence against women for 16 days this year.”

A detailed report will also be published about the violent cases against women in Kirkuk in 2013, in which according to information obtained by Kirkuk Now, the number of incidences are higher compared to last year’s statistics.

Srood Muhammad was not willing to give any comment or give any clue regarding the report until the day of its publication.
