Turkey’s Office of the General Commander of the Gendarme has revealed a report stating that the armed wing of the Kurdish separatist movement in Syria, the PYD, has been given 200 missiles from the Syrian regime leader Bashar al-Assad.

According to Turkey’s Bugun newspaper, PYD commander Sahin Cilo, otherwise known as Ferhat Abdi Sahin, has moved his camp from the Derik district to the Amude district. Approximately 3000 PKK fighters from Turkey later arrived in the border town of Rasulayn, which is just opposite the Turkish border town of Ceylanpinar, as reinforcements. It is believed that there are now 3,800 PKK fighters located in Rasulayn, along with 6,300 fighters from the PYD.

The report says that Syrian leader Assad also armed the PYD with five Russian-made tanks and ten howitzers, which were sent to the Deyr ez-Zor district. At the same time, ammunition was sent via plane to the town of Qamishli. The report states that many Russian planes landed in Qamishli under the directorship of Bashar al-Assad, who organized the delivery of 220 thermo-sensitive ground-to-air missiles, describing their presence in the hands of the PKK as a ‘serious threat.’

Assad has also sent Adnan Jamil Hairbek, one of his loyal commanders, to Rasulayn in order to organize and plan attacks against the Free Syrian Army alongside Ferhat Abdi Sahin, the report claims.
Earlier today, the head of the PYD movement, Salih Muslim, responded to criticism after declaring the 'temporary autonomy' of Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan).

Good News, as long as they don't use it against their Kurd brothers and sisters.

Why would Assad give Kurds weapons when Kurds have been fighting Assad in order to gain freedom?

It is the question of survival for Alewites. They will never control Syria again. They were able to control Syria because during French Occupation, all the opportunities were monopolised by them. As a minority, French occupation depended on them. They
became Syrian elite and most Syrian army officers were from them after French left. After French, Syrians elected a legislative assembly but Alewite army officers removed it in a military coup. Later through the military they controlled Syria. This era has ended. Now they have to survive. To do that they have to find allies like Kurds and it is unfortunate it is in the interest of Kurds to become their allies, they don't have any other choices.

Salih Muslim is denying any connection between the PYD and Assad

We all know that the Alewites are in trouble and their region is fairly likely to suffer - possibly become isolated - Assad is fighting a war he can no longer expect to win - all he can hope for now is damage limitation and not being beheaded by the Islamic fundamentalists

Fortunately, as in Amude, they only use guns against their brothers and sisters. All is right.

I wish this is true, but don't believe it. Just look at the source, this is Turkish propaganda. If YPG has missiles from Assad, they were captured and Assad would never just give them away when they can be used against him.
