Japan helps Kurdistan Region in terms of agriculture

Today, December 23, 2013, Bahroz Muhammed Salih, Sulaimani Governor, received Head of Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Iraq. In a meeting, the two parties discussed the mutual relations and the projects of the Japanese corporations in Kurdistan Region.

Head of JICA highlighted that they are conducting projects in all regions of Iraq, but due to stability of conditions in Kurdistan Region, they are more comfortable working in Kurdistan Region; he also emphasized that their work is mostly concentrated in agriculture and water supply projects.

JICA chief, furthermore, added that right now they are trying to apply a Japanese Technique to boost the yield of tomatoes in winter so that it will supply Kurdistan Region`s need for tomato. For this reason, two fields have been established in Sulaimani so far benefitting from this same technique.

Head of JICA in Iraq also appreciated the concern of people of Kurdistan Region regarding the catastrophe that faced Japanese people after WWII. He also showed support of their corporation to realize and recognize the catastrophes the Kurdish people faced.
On his side, Bahroz Muhammed, Sulaimani Governor, thanked the Japanese corporation and showed his support for the projects of JICA. He also requested that the Japanese corporation will open training courses inside Kurdistan Region to benefit the people of the region.
