The recent conflicts between the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militias and tribal forces in association with security forces in Anbar have led thousands of people to flee from Anbar Province, especially the city of Fallujah, and seek refuge in Kurdistan Region.

Regarding the subject, Hamza Hamid, Announcement and Communications Manager of Erbil Governorate, told PUKmedia that so far, 13 thousand people form Anbar have come to Erbil.

Currently, some of these people are staying with their relatives that reside in Erbil, and others who can afford, stay in hotels or rent houses.

Hamza Hamid pointed out, “The current situation of the refugees is temporary, and if conditions require, KRG will issue serious orders regarding the well-being of the refugees.”

“The refugees have gone through security procedures and they do not mark any potential danger on Kurdistan Region,” Hamza Hamid added.

“KRG have not provided any budget for those people yet because the number did not exceed normal range and their condition is normal,” Hamid concluded.
