Statement from the Ministry of Peshmerga over the instabilities in Sa'dya

SA`DYA, Kurdistan Region: The Ministry of Peshmerga announced that up to now we have not received any request to send our forces to Sa'dya area.

"Only the president of Kurdistan Region has the authority to decide over moving our forces," the secretary general of the Ministry of Peshmerga said.

Today, February 17, 2014, the ISIS gunmen attacked the Iraqi forces and could control several villages and two Iraqi army bunkers, killing all the soldiers in there.

Up to the moment, there is no data about the number of deaths and injuries.

On the need to send Peshmerga forces to Sa'dya, as it is part of the Kurdish disputed territories under the Iraqi authorities, Jabar Yawar, the secretary general of the Ministry of Peshmerga told PUKmedia, "Sa'dya is under the Iraqi authorities and nobody in the area asked for help of Peshmerga from either the President of Kurdistan Region or the KRG to fight back the terrorist groups with the Iraqi forces. In case they ask, our ministry will go for the help."

Yawar also mentioned that if the president Massoud Barzani commands their forces to move to those places, they are going to execute the order immediately.
