General Union of Arab Countries Chambers of Commerce to be Held in Erbil

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region: Today, March 6, 2014, a meeting on the upcoming conference of Chambers of Commerce of the Arab Countries in March, 30, in Erbil was held to discuss the preparations.

The meeting was attended by Dara Jalil Khayat, Head of Erbil Chamber of Commerce, Ja'far al-Hamdani, Head of the Iraqi Union of Chambers of commerce, and Dr. Emad Shihab, the general secretary of the Union of Arab Countries Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

In a press conference, Head of Erbil Chamber of Commerce announced that the conference of the Arab countries chambers of commerce will take place in Erbil Rotana Hotel in March 30, 2014 under the patronage of the President of Kurdistan Region.

"The conference will be attended by 22 chambers of commerce of the Arab countries which have a union office in Beirut, capital of Lebanon and Dr. Emad Shihab is the general secretary of the union," Khayat gives the press more details regarding the Union of Arab Countries Chambers of Commerce conference in Erbil.

This is the first time to hold such a conference in Kurdistan region, and first time in Iraq since 1972 conference of that union in Iraq.

With Iraqi Union of Chambers of Commerce's effort and support of Kurdistan Union of Chambers of Commerce, this year's conference will be in Erbil, attending by a large number of the chambers of commerce of the Arab countries, businessmen, and companies from 20 Arab countries, 10 European countries, and 150-200 investors.

Dara Jalal Khayat believes that the conference will take Iraq and Kurdistan Region investment sector to a new stage of progress.
