Sulaimani receives 12 thousand tourists in two days
Newroz festivals attract a great deal of tourists from Iran and central and southern Iraq every year. This year`s Newroz approach, so far, has drawn nearly 12 thousand tourists to Sulaimani in two days.
Mustafa Hama-Rahim, director of tourism affairs in Sulaimani, stated to PUKmedia that, only in two days, from March 16-17, nearly 12 thousand tourists have come from central and southern Iraq. The number is expected to increase, he said.
Hama-Rahim noted that this year, it is expected that Sulaimani will receive 70 thousand tourists, “a rate fewer than last year`s due to the instable weather.”
Regarding preparations for this year`s festival, Sulaimani`s Tourism Board equipped that all hotel, motels, and restaurants are informed to receive and welcome tourists. “We have also signed contract with a company to offer its service in resort areas and other place where people celebrate.”
The board also mentioned that due to tourism season, accommodation wages go up everywhere, and “we informed all hotels and motels to raise their wages by %30.”
