Bulgaria to inaugurate a general consulate in Kurdistan Region Today, March 19, 2014, Sulaimani Governor Barhoz Mohammed Salih received a delegation from the Bulgarian city of Varna which comprised two deputy directors of Varna Municipality, Varna`s tourism director, and a Bulgarian MP.
The meeting was mainly focused on discussing the materialistic and humanitarian powers of the two cities of Sulaimani and Varna.
At first, Sulaimani Governor Mr. Salih briefly mentioned to the delegation that Sulaimani is known as the Capital of Culture in Kurdistan Region and is ahead of other cities in terms of education, health, preservation of environment, agriculture, tourism, and politics.
“Sulaimani`s topography makes it an outstanding candidate for agriculture and tourism,” Mr. Salih added, requesting the delegation to promote investment in Sulaimani in terms of agriculture and tourism.
Addressing the Bulgarian city of Varna, deputy director of Varna Municipality equipped that their city is famous for its tourism and youth power, mentioning that the city earns %70 of its income through tourism.
The Bulgarian delegation, in the light of these facts, requested consolidation of relations with Sulaimani, equipping that the Bulgarian government is considering inauguration of a consulate in the Region.
To promote the notion, Varna`s delegation and Sulaimani Governorate signed a memorandum of understanding to boost relations in terms of construction, higher education and technology ,culture, tourism, health and trade.
