A meeting between the 'house wife' :-D Berham Salih and Massud Barzani.

I wonder if the agreement between Goran and KDP includes the promise from KDP to NOT give the Interior ministry to PUK and to keep for itself as a compromise.

Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani denied a request by Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) leader to give the interior ministry of the next government of the region to the party that is experiencing tough days as its leader Jalal Talabani is hospitalized in Germany and some of its members have left the party for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

PUK leading officials Hiro Ibrahim Ahmad and Barham Salih met Barzani in Erbil yesterday and asked the president, also the leader of KDP, the winner party of the region’s parliament elections, to give the ministry of interior to PUK in the upcoming government of the region.

Barzani has reportedly told the officials the decision to run the ministry but the KDP has been made by the party’s leading council and he cannot change it but promised to take the request to the council.

The PUK high-profile officials later met KDP Deputy Leader and Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) PM Nechirvan Barzani and discussed latest developments of the region as well as hurdles on forming the enclave’s government.

Preparations to establish the government have been made and posts have been divided between all lines in the region. The only trouble, however, is the disputed between the two former ruling allies PUK and KDP over which one should run the ministry.

I think that Barzani is right - Interior ministry should NOT go to the PUK

The PUK is not just arguing semantics - it is being greedy in seeking a position far beyond it current capabilities X(

The Interior Ministry is by far the MOST important of all the ministries and requires a strong party to take control it - the PUK no-longer has the strength or the ability to take on such a role

The PUK has to realise that with the best will in the world Talabani is never going to be in a position to take control of the party again - this is a sad fact but a fact none the less :(

For the benefit of the PUK and for the benefit of Kurdistan as a whole - the PUK MUST pull together under a NEW leader if it has any hope of surviving X(
