Two suicide bomb attacks target Serêkaniyê

SEREKANIYE, Syrian Kurdistan,— Two suicide car bomb attacks have been carried out in the Serêkaniyê city (Ras-Al-Ain in Arabic) and Tel Khalaf district in West (Syrian) Kurdistan on Thursday.
The first explosion targeted the Kurdish People's Defense Units (YPG), near the industrial city, while the other targeted a an Asayish (Kurdish security) headquarter in Tal Hallaf area, near Serêkaniyê..
3 members of the Kurdish units and an Asayish member were killed, while several others were wounded, according to local sources.
The first suicide attack was carried out with a bomb-laden car which was detonated near a primary school in Serêkaniyê. Many people including children have reportedly suffered an injury in the explosion, ANF reported.
The second explosion which was also reported to be a suicide attack took place in Tel Khalaf four km to Serêkaniyê short after the first attack. Many have been reported killed and wounded in the explosion while the number of casualties isn't clear yet.
The YPG and public security forces have taken intense security measures in the area.
The district of Tel Khalaf is located across the Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises in Urfa's Ceylanpınar district. The building of the Directorate was one of the main crossingwww.Ekurd.net points into Syria of the Turkey-backed gang groups before the area was taken by the YPG.
As part of the revolutionary operations launched on 1 November 2013, YPG forces liberated at least 25 Kurdish villages and the ancient district of Tel Khalaf from the Islamic-SIS jihadists, which has strategic importance, in the Serêkaniyê region in five days.
The district of Tel Khalaf which neighbors Turkey is settled by Kurdish, Arab, Chechen, Turkmen and Christian communities.
In the past months the border areas of Syrian Kurdistan region (Rojava) have been the target of several attacks by Islamic-jihadists from ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham) linked to al-Qaeda.
