IL-Hewlêr, Kurdistan region 'Iraq',— The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Thursday the result of the provincial council elections in three provinces of Hewlêr [Erbil], Slêmanî [Sulaimaniyah] and Duhok in the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan.
According to IHEC in Erbil province, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) won the first place, then Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK ) followed by Change (Gorran).
In Slêmanî province, the Change movement won the first place, then PUK the second place and KDP that came the third.
In Duhok province, the KDP won the first place, followed by the Islamic Union, the PUK comes as 3rd ,then Change movement.
Meanwhile, the Change movement official, Aram Sheikh Mohammed, has stated his party’s rejection of the official result in Slêmanî provincial election, which was announced by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on 22 May.
Mohammed told official Gorran media outlets that based on the party’s statistical data, Gorran should have gained 376,000 votes in Slêmanî province, not the 359,600 which were attributed to it by the IHEC, basnews reported.
“We should have gained 13 seats in the Slêmanî council based on our data, but the result announced by IHEC has only awarded 12 council seats to Gorran.” Mohammed said.
The commission announced the results which are as follow:
Erbil, 30 seat, 754234 votes
Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP): 12 seats, 372607 votes
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK): 6 seats, 168603 votes
Gorran (Change Movement): 4 seats, 108116 votes
Islamic Communities: 2 seats 57907 votes
Islamic Union: 1 seat, 27713 votes
Al-Iraqiya Turkemeni front: 1 seat, 1904 votes
Turkemani Qaema: 1 seat, 1770 votes
Erbil Shaebi Majlis: 1 seat, 1632 votes
Shalama Kyian: 1 seat, 1198 votes
Turkeman Democratic Movement: 1 seat, 1125 votes
Slêmanî, 32 seats, 906643 votes
Gorran: 12 seats, 359600 votes
PUK: 11 seats, 318723 votes
KDP: 3 seats, 86655 votes
Islamic Union: 2 seats, 66596 votes
Islamic Communities: 2 seats, 55457 votes
Qaema al-Rafedayin: 1 seat, 255 votes
National Alliance: 1 seat, 1052 votes
Duhok, 28 seats, 500161 votes
