Tayfur calls to return Kirkuk to Kurdistan Region



The Second Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of the Representatives Arif Tayfur called to return Kirkuk Province to Kurdistan Region, stressing that the results of the recent elections in Kirkuk prove that most of Kirkuk population are Kurds.

The Kurds winning of 8 seats of Kirkuk’s share of seats in the Council of Representatives is a good indication that most of the population of the province are from the Kurdish Nationality and is a clear message and evident to those who are skeptical regarding the Kurdish identity of Kirkuk, Tayfur added.

He called on the United Nations and international organizations to the official recognition of this fact, and work for the return of Kirkuk to Kurdistan because it’s a historic right.
