In the aim to separates news from debates, it would be good to post there all press papers, official statements, or unofficial news, videos, concerning all the places and parts of the ISIS progress in Iraq, KRG, and why not Rojava-Syria and international reactions when there is a link to Iraq battlefield.

As now it concerns in the same event Kurdistan and Iraq, and perhaps all the Middle-East it becomes irrelevant to post the updates in different places.

You can add a link to the news posted there if you want to debate about it elsewhere, or make a direct link to the sites you quote.

U.S. Said to Rebuff Iraqi Request to Strike Militants

WASHINGTON — As the threat from Sunni militants in western Iraq escalated last month, Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki secretly asked the Obama administration to consider carrying out airstrikes against extremist staging areas, according to Iraqi and American officials.

But Iraq’s appeals for a military response have so far been rebuffed by the White House, which has been reluctant to open a new chapter in a conflict that President Obama has insisted was over when the United States withdrew the last of its forces from Iraq in 2011.

First ISIS rules in Nineveh : no cigarettes, alcohol, women must wear wide clothes, shrines & graves will be destroyed.

As Niniveh is a place of ancient Christian holy places (monasteries, churches, cemeteries) they will spend many times to destroy all historical sites.

In the second christian center, Al Qosh (near to Duhok, different from Qaraqosh) now Peshmergas raised the Kurdish flag. That is a wise thing to protect the place, ISIS avoid to fight KRG forces, even Iraqi soldiers put the Kurdish flag on their vehicles, in the hope that ISIS do not shot them.

Image

Rudaw lost a photographer, Kamaran Najm, killed in Kirkuk.

Fuad Hussein (Kurdistan presidency chief of staff)f: Peshmerga has gone their home (Kurdish areas outside of KRG admin) and won't withdraw.

I see that ISIS are claiming to have looted this helicopter - NOT true - the pic is over 3 years old

It makes me wonder how many more of their claims to military hardware are also fantasy

They are trying to win the propaganda war

Either ISIS hope to encouraging others to join them by showing how powerful they are

Or ISIS are trying to frighten others with their show of military power

Either way we know that we cannot believe them

Iraq Document: Islamic State of Iraq’s Rules of Conduct in Mosul

The Islamic State of Iraq and as-Sham has published a code of conduct in Nineveh Province, two days after insurgents took provincial capital Mosul.

The document instructs fighters to respond to questions about their mission, “We are soldiers of Islam and took on our responsibility to bring back the glory of the Islamic Caliphate.”

Anyone who steals the money claimed by insurgents “from the Safavid Government” — ISIS reportedly took more than $400 million from Mosul’s banks — will have their hands cut off. Only the “Imam of Muslims” may spend the funds.

ISIS warns tribal leaders and Sheikhs not to “work with government and become traitors”. Police, soldiers, and workers for “other kafir institutions” can repent at designated locations.

Muslims are to perform prayers on time in mosques. Drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are banned, as is the carrying of guns or any flag other than that of ISIS. Women must “dress decently” and “only go out if needed”.

As “God ordered us to stay united”, shrines will be destroyed.

ISIS concludes, “You tried secular rulers (republic, Baathist, Safavids), and it pained you. Now is the time for the Islamic State.”
