Many parts of Amed under attack amid new curfews

Curfew and attack by Turkish state forces in Amed's Sur district

Governor of Diyarbakır has declared a curfew on Amed's central Sur district, upon which police and special operation teams surrounded the district with armored vehicles at 05:00 local time this morning.

While armored vehicles are trying to enter the district which also witnesses an intense activity of helicopters, sounds of arms are being heard from the area.

Police have blocked entrance and exit to the district, in addition to denying access for local residents and journalists to go beyond Dağkapı Square.

A previous curfew in the district on 6 September had ended up with attacks by police forces with heavy weapons.

Police teams have started opening random fire in the district, to which inhabitants respond by taking to the streets despite the curfew.

Following the imposition of a curfew early this morning, police forces blockaded all neighborhoods, mainly Hasırlı and Lalebey, and are trying to enter the settlements with armored vehicles. Snipers affiliated to police forces have been positioned on high buildings across the district.

Local people have in the meantime started carrying out resistance against the attacks and built up barricades at many locations.
Fire opened by police from an armored vehicle in Hasırlı neighborhood has left a 18-year-old civilian wounded, who is being treated by the locals.

A delegation from DBP and HDP has left for the district to hinder a probable massacre, and called on Amed people to go to the district to stand against attacks.

Curfew in three neighborhoods of Silvan

Following a crackdown by police forces in Amed's Silvan district this morning, a curfew has been imposed on the neighborhoods of Tekel, Konak and Mescit.

In the wake of the attack by police forces in Mescit neighborhood earlier this morning, one police has reportedly lost his life, and three people, including two policemen, have been wounded in clashes, according to initial reports.

Despite there being no official statement by the Governor, police have announced from armored vehicles and the mosques that a curfew has begun in three neighborhoods as of 10:10 local time.

Following the announcements, police forces in a number of armored vehicles started heading towards Konak neighborhood.

In Cami and Selahattin neighborhoods as well, police made announcements from armored vehicles, calling on the people to enter their houses and not go out.
