Parties to Discuss Iraq

The political parties in Kurdistan Region are set to meet on Tuesday (5th November) in Erbil to discuss the current situation in Iraq

MP Azad Kurachi confirmed the meeting in a statement made to BasNews, saying that Nechirvan Barzani, the President of Kurdistan Region, will host leaders of political parties.

Khurachi noted that also representatives of minorities and heads of parliamentary blocs will attend the Tuesday meeting.

“They will mainly discuss the current situation in Iraq as well as the attempts to amend the Iraqi Constitution,” the MP said, noting that the Kurdistani factions will set a framework to remain united in the face of the political challenges.

Previously, major Kurdish political parties said that any imposed will to amend the Constitution is already rejected by the Kurds, and that no attempt to reduce the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan will be accepted.
