Ukraine was the globalists’ dirty operations hub

Biolabs that the US lied about having, farm animals that died in the regions close to the Biolabs, weapons trafficking, money laundering, child exploitation, organ trade, proxy militias, digital ID experiments, an illegal military coup, attacks on Donbass, the banning of all opposition parties and imprisonment of legally elected opposition MPs — you name it. The Western elite treated Ukraine like a lawless sandbox for their darkest programs

And for years, Donbass asked the International community for help and protection, For years Russia also asked the International community to help and protect the people of Donbass.

Russia was watching

NATO expansion wasn’t just a military threat, it was a cover for deeper incursions: the installation of puppet governments, the embedding of foreign agents and the crushing of the Russian-speaking population in Donbas who stood in the way.

The Donbass appealed to Russia for help and protection, a fact that everyone seems to ignore. When Russia moved in, the media screamed “invasion,” but many of us saw something else:

    A cleanup operation.
A take down of the globalist nerve center.
    A liberating attack against NAZIs
Russia’s motives were not imperial — they were existential.

The West had turned Ukraine into a time bomb at their doorstep.

And then came the real show: billions in U.S. taxpayer dollars pumped into Ukraine under Biden; the same man whose son, Hunter, was neck-deep in corrupt deals there. The same man who leveraged aid to fire prosecutors investigating Burisma. The same man whose regime sent billions to a black hole of untraceable spending.

    Where’s the money?
    Where are the weapons?
Why are U.S. arms showing up in Africa and Gaza?
Why is Ukraine selling its own farmland to BlackRock and Vanguard?
It’s not aid, it’s money laundering at a global scale.

Now Trump, who knows the game, and likely sees Putin not as an enemy, but as a strategic ally in dismantling the globalist system, is making moves. He has given Putin a 50 day deadline and talks of ending the war “fast” and arming Ukraine.

Sending weapons to Ukraine, even if paid by NATO, is not what the MAGA base expected from Trump.

We don’t know exactly what Trump’s play is — but we do know he’s no friend to the corrupt global elite. And if Putin is tearing down their scaffolding in Ukraine, it would make more sense for Trump to covertly support that effort than to sabotage it.

Scaffolding is collapsing fast as, due to assorted resignations, Ukraine will be holding a government re-shuffle. Question is will the dictator Zelensky be thrown out and the opposition MPs be freed !?!

Advances for Russia’s armed forces in Ukraine
Neo-Nazi ideology continues its rise in Kiev

Russia's statements about denazification as one of the goals of its special military operation were not accidental

The Russian Armed Forces have accelerated their military advances in early July 2025, placing the Ukrainian Armed Forces under record pressure since the beginning of the NATO proxy war in the country, three and a half years ago.

Ukrainian analysts are predicting that the military pressure on the governing regime in Kiev will only increase with each passing month. The Russian army is accelerating territorial advances as new Russian divisions are formed and trained, while the Ukrainian army continues to be depleted.

In response to the deteriorating military situation, the Trump administration in Washington announced on July 14 additional funding and weaponry for the governing regime in Kiev and its military, to be paid for, it says, by the warmaking governments of Europe.

But this is only a change of tone, not of policy, and it cannot change the outcome of the US/NATO war against Russia using Ukraine as their proxy.

Ukrainian legislator Oleksandr Dubinsky, jailed since early 2023 for "treason", notes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces under Zelensky have only known a steady retreat of late. “The comedian [Volodomyr Zelensky, the unelected head of the Kiev regime] lost 559 square kilometers of territory in June. In May, he lost 449 square kilometers. That’s almost 1000 square kilometers. Since the fall of 2022, Ukraine has never achieved a ‘plus’ territorial gain in the war, only retreats and losses,” he writes.

The Ukrainian online publication Politnavigator cites Russian military correspondent Alexander Kots in a report on July 3 as saying that the number of troops on both sides is in rough parity, but there are significant differences in morale.

“The quality is completely different, because our troops are in high spirits while the Ukrainians have been forcibly conscripted and are anything but happy,” Kots told a radio broadcast by the Russian tabloid newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Ceasefire talk by Kiev regime representatives

Ukraine’s official media continue to broadcast daily that the war will last for years to come. Ukrainian ultra-nationalists try to cheer up Ukrainian soldiers and convince them to fight on with constant references in their broadcasts to some kind of ‘black swan’ event (a rare and unpredictable occurrence with profound impacts and consequences) that will miraculously rescue the deteriorating military/political situation.

When facing Western audiences, Zelensky has been projecting a different message, talking of ‘ceasefire’ with Russia (presumably to please Donald Trump and his pre-July 14 talk).

Trump continues to be presented by corporate and state media in the West as sincerely desirous of ‘peace’ between Russia and Ukraine. Even alternative media is playing that game, despite the continued news reporting exactly the opposite.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Heorhiy Tykhiy, said on July 6 that Ukraine would participate in ceasefire talks with Russia strictly to prevent critics in the West, particularly those opposing continued financial and military support, from accusing Kiev of rejecting peace initiatives.

A ‘Georgia’ outcome in Ukraine?

In May 2025, JPMorganChase financial analysts predicted a ceasefire by July 2025, with the most likely scenario being along the lines of the truce in Georgia, which followed the brief war there in 2008. According to this scenario, Ukraine after the war would not receive reliable security guarantees from the West.

It would remain unstable, and eventually, after one or two changes of government, would fall into Russia's sphere of influence. Although Georgia is not a country friendly to Russia, the West considers it so because of the persistent refusal by the government there to consider launching a second, suicidal conflict with Russia.

In 2008, the then-government of Georgia launched a military attack against the disputed region of South Ossetia, which was seeking full autonomy from Georgia or outright joining of the Russian Federation. Russia came to the defense of the region and quickly defeated the Georgian army. South Ossetia is today a sovereign state recognized by Russia with a population of some 60,000.

The Western analysts are wrong. “The Georgian scenario is optimal for everyone,” commented Yevgeny Minchenko on the JPMorgan report, as reported by Strana.ua on July 1. He is one of the most prominent political scientists in Russia, said to be close to the Kremlin.

Strana writes in its July 1 report that the Georgia outcome is entirely feasible, provided that the economic elites and armed forces leaders conclude that in order to save the statehood and nation of Georgia from self-inflicted destruction caused by threats and provocations against Russia, it is necessary to compromise and make peace. In addition to the aspirations of Ukraine and Russia for such a scenario, Strana emphasizes, it also requires the absence of active resistance from the West.

West wants continued war, is willing to enlist neo-Nazis to fight it

Ukraine is being pushed to continue to wage war for the Western countries. A suicidal prolongation of military action by Ukraine provides an opportunity for Western governments to browbeat their own populations and lower their social standards and expectations while continuing to launder billions of dollars from the funds supposedly dedicated to purchasing weapons from the Western military-industrial complexes.

The survival of neo-Nazism in Germany was nurtured by Western capitalists following World War II in order to combat a declared ‘red menace’ emanating from the Soviet Union and its constituent republics. Beginning in the 1980s and accelerating after the demise of the Soviet Union, the Western powers began to expand their NATO military alliance eastward.

Part of this strategy was to dehumanize entire peoples, above all the Russian people (who were the largest component by land area and population of the Soviet Union). Today in Ukraine, the West continues to pursue this same strategy.

Although Russia explains that the goal of its special military operation in Ukraine includes denazification, the Western media simply refuse to report this, still less to explain it. It refuses to even acknowledge the presence (and ascendance since 2014) of neo-Nazi ideology in Ukraine
Also ignored has been the military and political training and arming that the US government and military have provided to the neo-Nazi movement in Ukraine, even if some circles in the US would recognize this movement as a threat to the United States itself.

Konstantin Nemichev of the neo-Nazi ‘Azov’ movement in Ukraine, today an officer in the main military intelligence service of Ukraine, boasted recently that Azov has received training from US instructors since 2014. An officer in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed this in a July 1 interview in a Ukrainian news outlet, as reported on Telegram by Politnavigator
Nemichev explained, “It was the summer [of 2014] and we took a two-week course for willing, young fighters-to-be. Before that, I had never even held a machine gun, now we had U.S. special commandos training us. They taught us some skills and tactics, and we were trained by Alpha officers [U.S. special commandos].

After that, we went to Donbass and put our new-found skills to work in such urban centers as Ilovaisk, Pavlopol and Shirokino (in the Donetsk republic, Donbass region). We had a lot of operations there and we gained experience that would become vital beginning in February 2022. - a lot of operations in which we, first of all, gained the experience that we needed in 2022…. NATO officers, Americans, taught us staff culture and management, and this was very much needed.”

‘Azov’ emerged amid the coup in 2014 as a shock force to suppress Ukrainians holding on to the country’s Soviet legacy. Until 2024, it was considered by the US government to be an extremist group, but that all changed in the middle of that year
In an interview for Ukrainska Pravda, as reported on Telegram by Politnavigator on July 1, the same Nemichev stated he is in favor of continuing the war with Russia, although he admits that more and more cities will have to be lost before conditions improve for the Ukrainian side.

“I understand that if we sign some absurdity (ceasefire) now and make a pause--and I'm talking exactly for a pause, similar to the ‘pause’ of 2016 to 2022--then we will lose the cities and regions of Kharkiv, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhya. We will fight for three more years and perhaps lose Cherkasy, Kyiv and other cities and regions in central Ukraine. We must realize that is our destiny; our destiny is to fight.”

Another neo-Nazi leader, Yevhen Karas of the ‘C-14’ paramilitary group (recently involved in violence against Roma people), spoke on Ukrainian television about how to capture and return to the frontlines Ukrainian men who have escaped or evaded military service. He, too, works for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's main intelligence service. He sees the task of Ukrainian nationalists as fighting for a “common Ukrainian-European cause," including in Africa. That is, he considers Ukrainian ultra-nationalists to play the role of assistant colonizers of the ‘white man’.

“How do we return Ukrainians who have gone abroad? Let's make a deal. We will go to fight for common Ukrainian-European interests in Africa, while the drones of military recruiters will be permitted to fly over Europe to catch evaders and send them back to us.” This scenario is not so far-fetched, as European countries may soon be deporting Ukrainians back home, where a dispatching to the frontlines will await.

EU citizens will eventually face the same fate; it is not for nothing that some European countries are already introducing forms of compulsory military service (conscription), including even, in some cases, for women. For the West, this is an existential issue of survival and hegemony of their capitalist system, which has been shaken by their losing war effort in Ukraine and by the rising resistance and rebellion of the peoples and countries of the Global South.
Neo-Nazi ideology running wild at the highest levels

The biggest scandal of all in Ukraine of late is the appointment of Oleksandr Alferov to be the new director of the renowned (for Ukrainian ultra-nationalists) Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and a former press secretary of the neo-Nazi Azov. According to Ukrainian journalist Oleksandr Savko, Alferov was once known among ultra-nationalists as favoring the creation of a Ukrainian kingdom headed by an autocrat-monarch, ruling over the country with the help of a newly created and appointed class of nobles.

In his first interview in his new post, Alferov states that Adolf Hitler was a cultured, decent, educated man who cannot be judged according to the same standards as political figures from Russia. "How can you compare a man [Hitler] who received a German education, was an artist, and was brought up amidst the philosophy and the high culture of Germany to these other people? No way. These are two different kinds of people cannot be compared.” In his view, Russians do not compare with the law-abiding, highly moral Germans of the Third Reich.
Alferov considers today’s inhabitants of the Russian Federation to be ‘Oriental savages’ who are even worse than the Orcs from Tolkien's books. He publicly refers to Russians as “goblins”.

“Hatred for everything Asian and Russian has long been a chip of this odious parvenu with complexes of a ‘true Aryan’,” writes the journalist Savko.

Alferov is formally considered by Ukrainian authorities to be a historian. Since 2010, he has worked as a researcher at the once-prestigious Institute of Ukrainian History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He is evidently unaware that Hitler had no higher education and was refused admission to the Vienna School of Art. Alferov's own ancestors and so many other Ukrainians were murdered and exterminated in their millions by the ‘highly cultured’ German people of the 1930s and 1940s, led by Hitler. According to Nazi ideology, Alferov’s ancestors were considered slaves, nothing more.

Zelensky's former associate and former legislator, Oleksandr Dubinskyy, emphasizes that the Institute of National Memory under Alferov and his like-minded predecessor defines the current ideology of the Ukrainian state. The Institute was established in 2008 by the then-president Viktor Yuschenko (leader of the 2004-05 ‘Orange Revolution’, favoring Ukraine joining the European Union).

Its heads were moderate nationalists until the ‘Euromaidan’ coup of 2013/14, after which its appointed heads were ultra-nationalists favoring supportive of the WW2-era history of collaboration with Nazism. The new head takes that one step further in being an outright fan of Hitler
Ukrainian political advisors are advising Zelensky of late to stop talking about ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’, as part of a strategy to ‘tame’ Trump, because trends are changing quickly. Olga Koshelenko, special correspondent in the United States for the Ukrainian TV channel TSN, is urging, “The strategy saying that we Ukrainians are defending freedom and democracy in Europe and around the world is not working with the Trump administration. Indeed, they are annoyed by this messaging of ours!

We need to change the messaging and the approach. Our theme is a worn one used by the Democrats before Trump, positing a ‘good’ West fighting against an ‘evil’ Russia. But this whole frame just falls flat today. Worse, it pisses the Trump people off! Just stop talking this way!” Her words indicate that even before Trump’s second arrival, talk of Ukraine supposedly ‘defending freedom and democracy’ was just empty rhetoric falling flat.

Russia's statements about denazification as one of the goals of its special military operation were not accidental. The fact is that tolerance and even promotion of neo-Nazism in Ukraine is part of a long-term policy by the Western imperialist powers to preserve and strengthen the dominance of a ‘white Europe’. Ukrainian officials are no longer embarrassed to say it out loud.

Russia, Ukraine delegations meet for talks

Russia and Ukraine are set to hold a third round of talks in Istanbul, focusing on draft memoranda and prisoner exchanges

A Russian delegation is en route to Istanbul to participate in the third round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, as announced by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday.

"Indeed, our delegation has gone to Istanbul and, indeed, negotiations are planned there this evening," the Kremlin spokesperson told reporters.

The Ciragan Palace, where the talks are expected to start at 16:00 GMT, has been closed to the public, a palace staff member told RIA Novosti.

"Entrance is closed for today. There will be a meeting," the staff member said.

Only some cars are allowed to enter the palace grounds.

The Russian delegation, headed by presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, maintains its previous composition as it participates in the talks, according to the official's statement.
Ukrainian delegation en route too

A source in Volodymyr Zelensky's office announced that the Ukrainian delegation has left for Istanbul, as reported by Ukraine’s Hromadske news outlet.

The Ukrainian delegation will consist of 14 members, led by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.

Putin-Zelensky meeting in the works

Peskov also stated that the ongoing efforts to finalize draft memoranda between Moscow and Kiev regarding a potential settlement in Ukraine are part of the preparatory work for a possible future meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

When questioned about Russia's willingness to discuss a potential Putin-Zelensky meeting, Peskov responded to journalists by stating, "All the work that must be done to coordinate the memoranda is preparation for the meeting. In this regard, yes."

The official emphasized that arranging a potential meeting between Putin and Zelensky would be premature without substantial preparatory groundwork being completed first.

Kremlin: Russia, Ukraine to discuss draft memoranda in talks

During Wednesday's third round of talks in Istanbul, Russia and Ukraine will address matters concerning draft settlement memoranda and ongoing prisoner-of-war exchanges, according to the Kremlin spokesperson.

"The issues that will be discussed will be primarily those related to the draft memoranda that were exchanged during the second round. Also, [there will be] a conversation on continuing the very important process of mutual exchanges. If necessary, of course, any other issues will be raised. Such decisions will be made by the heads of the delegations," Peskov stated.

He noted that the Moscow-Kiev discussions would prove challenging, explaining that the draft memoranda remain "diametrically opposed" to each other.

Ukrainian statehood pitted against
the citizens of the country

Dmitri Kovalevich argues that modern Ukrainian statehood has turned against its own people, suppressing dissent, provoking wider war, and surviving only through coercion, Western backing, and public relations

Ukrainians have a cautionary term for what is taking place today in their country:
Don't dig a hole for someone else, or you'll fall into it yourself
On July 15, Ukraine celebrated its Day of Ukrainian Statehood established in 2023 by the administration in Kiev, then headed (as now) by Volodomyr Zelensky.

On August 24, Ukraine will mark its ‘day of independence’, the date of its secession from the Soviet Union (USSR) in 1991. These two dates mark the statehood and independence of the post-Soviet Ukrainian state in 1991. However, at the time of the demise of the Soviet Union, Ukraine was already independent and sovereign, with its own seat at the United Nations General Assembly separate from the representation of the Soviet Union as a whole. This was Soviet Ukraine (the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic).

What the two dates in 1991 mark is something resembling an Ireland deciding to depart the European Union (as did the UK government on January 31, 2020) and then declaring that date to be its date of statehood and independence.

The 1991 Declaration of Independence of Ukraine laid the foundation for post-Soviet Ukraine’s international recognition. It states that all nationalities within its border are guaranteed free national and cultural development. Most importantly, it says that Ukraine promises to become permanently neutral, not participating in military blocs, and renouncing the possession of nuclear weapons
“Modern Ukraine is an absolute antithesis to what was originally stated in its declaration of independence and then its constitution. All its problems have arisen because of its acute unwillingness to do what was promised in 1991 to the people and to the world,” writes Ukrainian author Miroslava Berdnik.

If all the original, declared goals of the Ukraine founded in 1991 had been observed, at least formally, then secession by entire regions following the Maidan coup of February 2014, as well as the current war with Russia, would not have taken place.

But the examples of Ukraine and many of the former republics of the USSR show that their declared goals have not been observed. In the case of Ukraine, democratic norms have served merely as smokescreens to obscure the gradual colonization of the country by Western imperialist countries.

Risk of wider war and nuclear weapons

In order to preserve its pro-Western statehood, Ukraine is provoking events that risk war between the nuclear powers of Europe and the USA, on the one hand, and the Russian Federation on the other.

Euromaidan activist and Ukrainian journalist Vitaliy Portnikov has written about this in particular. He has voiced hope that Donald Trump's administration in Washington will gift long-range weapons to Ukraine and demand that it uses them to strike Moscow and other major cities of Russia.

“Could the present war lead to a nuclear strike by Russia against Ukraine? Yes, it could. In that case, Trump could then go to war directly with Russia. That doesn't mean a World War III would start in 50 days, but the speed at which we are approaching such a scenario is definitely increasing.

And yes, such a war is one of the possible scenarios for preserving Ukrainian statehood, because in the event of a global conflagration, it will be easier for geographically peripheral countries such as ours to survive.”

Ukrainian legislator Oleksandr Dubinsky, a former associate of Zelensky, currently in prison facing accusations of treason, believes that Zelensky’s regime is holding out the possibility of nuclear weapons being used against Russia by Kiev’s Western patrons.

“The goal of Zelensky, his lobbyists in the EU, and a part of Trump's entourage is to achieve either the ouster of Putin or to unleash nuclear weapons,” the Ukrainian legislator writes.

Dubinsky writes that supporters of such a scenario are also considering a possible course by the Russian Federation in which it moves to implement general military conscription and considers a nuclear missile strike against Ukraine.

He believes that Ukraine is now a ‘bait’ state, resembling a sheep tied to a tree in order to lure a wolf for killing or capture. In his opinion, no one in the West truly cares about the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, nor the potential devastation of the country in an escalating war.

The West wants conditions that justify continued, tough economic sanctions against the Russian Federation and the stoking of internal instability.

Simply put, the position in which the steadily retreating Ukrainian army finds itself is such that the only remaining option for Zelensky is to drag major Western countries into the conflict, dreaming of a nuclear war in which both sides destroy each other and a Zelensky-led Ukraine would survive standing.

The Ukrainian state issuing from the 2014 coup

Ukrainian statehood, as it is seen by Western countries and by the administration of the unelected Zelensky (whose electoral mandate expired in April 2024), is an enemy of the Ukrainian citizenry.

The Ukrainian state, as presently constitute,d is prepared to see the country destroyed in every possible way if that be the price for this state’s own preservation. It acts as a parasite, feeding on its victim's body until it dies, following which the parasite itself dies.

The ‘modern’ (post-Soviet) state of Ukraine sent its army to suppress the rebellious people of the Donbass region (Donetsk and Lugansk republics) following the illegal coup in Kiev in February 2014.

This was a direct violation of the Ukraine constitution which prohibits the use of the Ukraine army against its own citizens. Article 17 of the Ukraine Constitution reads, "The Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations shall not be used by anyone to restrict the rights and freedoms of citizens or with the intent to overthrow the constitutional order, subvert the bodies of power or obstruct their activity
."The post-coup government in Kiev was prevented from invading Crimea in early 2014 thanks to the decisive actions of the then-government of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC), the only such region of Ukraine with a constitutionally recognized autonomous government.

The people of Donbass did not have such autonomy nor a comparable government to which they could turn for protection.

The ARC government held a referendum vote on March 15, 2014, asking whether the population wished to remain under Ukrainian rule or join the Russian Federation. The government also appealed to the Russian Federation for military protection; as it happened, Russian armed forces were already present in Crimea according to the terms of the 1997 friendship treaty between post-Soviet Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

The referendum outcome was overwhelmingly in favor of affiliation with the Russian Federation. The outcome also addressed the longstanding demand by most people in Crimea to undo the arbitrary, administrative decision by the Soviet Union in 1954 to ‘attach’ Crimea to Ukraine.

Crimea was a majority-Russian entity for several centuries prior, with a significant Crimean Tatar population whose language and cultural rights were never formally recognized or protected during Ukrainian rule and today are one of the three, officially recognized languages of Crimea, namely Russian, Crimea Tatar, and Ukrainian.

The state of Ukraine today continues to wage civil war against those of its population who opposed the illegal 2014 coup and wished to maintain friendly and cooperative relations with Russia.

The constitutional illegality of Kiev’s civil war in Donbass, which continues to this day, was reported and analyzed here six years ago in the Russia-based publication Baltnews.
Analysts believe Ukraine doomed to defeat

Oleksiy Arestovich, a former adviser to the Office of the President and one of Zelensky's backers until 2023, living today in exile in Europe, argues that this present-day Ukrainian state is doomed to defeat, no matter what assistance the United States and other NATO countries provide.

He says there are fewer and fewer people in Ukraine willing to defend the official, far-right, ultra-nationalist ideology of this state.

Arestovich recalls that in 1918, Kiev was taken by relatively few detachments of the Red Guards as led by the renegade Russian military officer Mikhael Muravyov, while entire regiments of soldiers under the command of pro-German and pro-Western officers refused orders to fight the Red Guards.

“They didn't go into battle,” writes Arestovich, “even though they could have crushed the Bolshevik Red Guards. The idea [of pro-Western Ukrainian nationalism] did not inspire them,” He regrets that such officers were inspired by a very different idea, a Ukrainian nationalism willing to subordinate the future country to the very Western imperialist powers that had created the WW1 cataclysm.

In the opinion of Arestovich, the six million Ukrainian men eligible for military service who have not served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces to date, living in clandestine conditions to avoid military recruiters, are behaving in a similar way 100 years later. He says that the right-wing Ukrainian nationalism of today - the official ideology of the country - does not inspire Ukrainian men to sign up for war, or no longer does so.

This former adviser to Zelensky is today certain that, “If the Americans were to hand over the entirety of their military arsenal to the regime in Kiev, the regime’s military would still fail sooner or later due to the shortage of infantry. A Nestor Makhno [anarchist leader during the war against imperialist intervention following the 1917 Revolution] or a Joseph Stalin would still defeat Bandera-inspired nationalism, and this for a third time in 100 years.”

A modern Ukrainian state and society dominated by far-right ideology cannot exist or survive, because 100 years of history show that the majority of the Ukrainian population does not support it. A far-right Ukraine survives only thanks to state violence and state suppression of progressive political and social alternatives
In a supreme irony, Arestovich is himself a former activist of the neo-Nazi Brotherhood party.

Arestovich believes that the governing administration in Kiev is only competent on matters of public relations and promoting its image to naïve and gullible Western audiences. It has staked its survival on media outreach and public relations warfare to pressure Western audiences and governments into supporting it by any and all means. He also argues that in contrast, Russia uses rationality and strong will to ‘roll on’ militarily and politically.

“There is no stopping Russia by using sanctions against it. The Russian roller-compactor is rolling over ultra-nationalist Ukraine and will continue to do so. Long-term trends during conflict and warfare are decided by the level of organization of the state and its ability to play the long game,” Arestovich explains with more than a hint of regret.

Desertions are rising each month from the Ukrainian army, according to Ukrainian journalist Volodymyr Boyko. He reports that during the first half of 2025, according to official data, 107,672 new criminal proceedings were registered for unauthorized abandonment of military units (desertion). That is an astounding monthly average so far in 2025 of nearly 18,000 desertions. This also amounts to a crushing burden of new criminal cases for a battered Ukraine state to process.

Boyko believes the real situation to be even worse, as many cases of desertion are simply not registered. He explains that in 2025, deserters are no longer removed from the personnel lists of military units, in order to maintain illusions that units are ‘fully staffed’. What’s more, the deserters’ salaries continue to be paid and collected… by former commanders in one form or another.

“As a result, there is no infantry in the Armed Forces of Ukraine today. None at all. The infantry is either on the run, in hospitals, or buried in cemeteries,” Boyko writes. According to his calculations, “realistically, there are between 30,000 and 50,000 servicemen, mostly drone operators, along the lines of contact on the Ukrainian side.”

Stanislav Bunyatov, a leader of the neo-Nazi ‘Aidar paramilitary battalion’, writes that a great many of the forcibly conscripted are choosing not to fight once transported to the front lines. “Most brigades today have demotivated personnel. If you don't kill a Russian with a drone, he will advance because Ukrainian soldiers are demotivated and, in most case,s are not willing to fight.

I'm talking about our soldiers. This is understandable because there are some brigades staffed largely or exclusively by the ‘busified’. These people will not stand to the last man and there is no longer enough leadership to force them to do so. Everyone understands that soldiers are there to stand and mark the front lines, that is all,” Bunyatov writes.

(‘Busification’ («бусифікація in Ukrainian) and its derivatives are new terms introduced into the Ukrainian language in recent years. The terms describe the grim process of herding forcibly conscripted men into buses (minibuses) to be transported to training grounds and then to the military front lines. In 2024, the Myslovo Dictionary of Modern Ukrainian Language and Slang declared the word ‘busification’ to be ‘word of the year’ in Ukraine.)

In other words, soldiers are needed on the front lines under fire in order that Zelensky can claim to the political and military conferences of the Western powers, which he regularly attends, that the Ukrainian armed forces are ‘holding the front lines’.

Conscription violence… and counter-violence

In July, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe criticized Ukraine for human rights violations of its conscription regime, citing a report published on July 8 by Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubynts (appointed in June 2022).

The ombudsman’s report says that “human rights violations by Ukrainian officials carrying out military conscription have become systematic and widespread,” including “physical violence such as beatings, cruel detentions, denial of access to legal counsel, detentions incommunicado, conscription of persons with disabilities, and other unacceptable actions.”

The EU commissioner recommends that European human rights defenders be given access to Ukraine’s conscripted soldiers to help prevent abuses.

Only the cases where EU citizens are killed or injured during military conscription in Ukraine may cause resonance in Western Europe. For example, a dual citizen of Hungary and Ukraine, József Sebestyén, was beaten to death in mid-July for resisting military recruiters in Ukraine’s Transcarpathia region, sparking protests in Budapest.

But the government of Hungary is considered a ‘black sheep’ of the European Union, and so the murder of a Hungarian at the hands of Ukrainian military recruiters does not cause the same stir in the warmaking halls of power of the European Union compared to the death of a citizen of France, Germany, or Britain.

(Ethnic Hungarians in Ukraine numbered 156,600 according to the Ukrainian census of 2001, the last census to take place in the country, making them the third largest national minority in the country, much of this dating back to the changing borders of Eastern Europe during the late 1930s and following World War II.)

Ukrainian political scientist Kost Bondarenko notes that resistance to military recruiters in Ukraine is definitely on the rise. “Look, there now is a reassessment of values taking place in many cities of Ukraine. The case of the unfortunate dual citizen is far from the first case.

There are so many cases where people are refusing to obey a call-up to military service.” He writes of a recent attack by a group of teenagers in the city of Dnipro against military recruiters. The teenagers managed to fight off the recruiters and rescue a man they had detained.

Another phenomenon taking place sees the forcibly conscripted in Ukraine turning their guns against their own officers or Western instructors. In some cases, these are conscripted Ukrainians who have maintained their sympathies with Russia during the turbulent years since the 2014 coup, while other such cases are apolitical Ukrainians who were victims of torture or violence as they were seized and shipped off to the front lines.

In the Chernihiv region of Ukraine, media has reported of a conscripted man who killed several of his training sergeants on July 16. The conscripted man had resisted serving in the army, but he was seized and was being trained to take up arms. He turned a machine gun against his military trainers.

Once conscripted men are in the trenches, internal conflict among the troops often begins. Ukrainian nationalists are panicking over such news, claiming that “the Russians are not only in front of us but also among us.” According to reports, Russian soldiers are increasingly facing little resistance when they advance, oftentimes finding casualties and traces of fratricidal conflict in the Ukrainian trenches they overrun.

In mid-July, German citizens were able to view in a Telegram message video footage of a violent conscription confrontation in Ukraine. The message as broadcast on Telegram was headlined ‘How German viewers react to ‘busification’ in Ukraine’ and contained the written comment ‘This is definitely not Ukraine; maybe China or North Korea? It's inhumane.’

Germans were shocked by the video, and many were misled into believing that this was taking place in some foreign land such as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. This underlines once again how easy it is to brainwash so many EU citizens when it comes to Ukraine.

Such people no doubt consider their own countries to be ‘bastions of freedom’ and Ukraine to be a ‘democracy’. But nothing resembling the events of today in Ukraine is taking place in the DPRK or in China. Such things can only happen in a country that is a vassal and willing tool of Western imperialism.

Many Ukrainian ultra-nationalists using social networks are gloating at the prospect of the citizens of Western countries - those who have cheered ‘democracy’ in Ukraine and attended rallies against ‘Russian imperialism’ while waving Ukrainian flags - will sooner or later feel the terror of forced conscription themselves.

This will happen when the supply of Ukrainian soldiers, whom the West is happy to throw under the ‘steamroller’ of the Russian army, runs out, and Western leaders are obliged to turn to their own human resources to maintain their murderous, global domination.

That is when the Western populations may begin to open their eyes and face the consequences of their ignorance or worse during the coup of 2014 and its continued aftermath. They may then begin to understand the inevitable but gradual and patient response by the Russian Federation to the escalating aggression by the Ukrainian state and the Western imperialist states.

Ukrainians have a cautionary term for what is taking place today in their country, namely ‘не рой другому яму – сам в нее попадешь’, meaning ‘Don't dig a hole for someone else, or you'll fall into it yourself.’

UK: No Ukraine-Russia peace deal
expected in next 12 months

UK's David Lammy says Ukraine-Russia peace talks may continue into 2026, while Putin insists on open-ended negotiations based on the 2024 peace framework

“I suspect that in a year’s time, talks will be going on. The question is how serious Russia is about those talks,” Lammy told The Guardian, expressing skepticism over Moscow’s willingness to reach a resolution.

The United Kingdom has consistently reaffirmed its commitment to backing Ukraine, maintaining that it will continue its support “for as long as needed” in the face of Russia’s military campaign.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking on Friday, reiterated Moscow’s stance on a political settlement based on the framework proposed in the summer of 2024. Putin said Russia is prepared to wait for Kiev’s readiness to re-engage and emphasized the need for open-ended discussions aimed at achieving lasting peace.

While no comprehensive agreement has yet been reached, Russia and Ukraine have previously held three rounds of negotiations in Istanbul. These talks led to a prisoner exchange and the mutual presentation of draft settlement memorandums.

Russia outlines ceasefire conditions

The Russian Ministry of Defense revealed in May the conditions presented by Moscow during the Istanbul negotiations with Kiev, as shared by the Clash Report platform on social media.

The outlined terms reflect Russia’s position on a potential settlement in Ukraine, with an immediate ceasefire as the primary demand.

Russia's ceasefire conditions:

Neutrality modeled on Austria

The first condition proposed by Moscow is that Ukraine adopt a neutral status, similar to Austria’s model. This would prohibit the presence of foreign troops or non-Ukrainian military bases on Ukrainian territory, effectively excluding NATO or other military alliances from operating within the country.

No foreign troops or bases in Ukraine

Moscow emphasized that neutrality must be comprehensive, with Kiev legally committing to reject the stationing of foreign forces and equipment.

Territorial demands and border recognition

Among the key demands, Russia requires Ukraine to formally recognize its constitutional claims over five regions: Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and the Crimean Peninsula.

The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that the immediate ceasefire is contingent upon the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from all five regions claimed by Russia.

Renunciation of war compensation claims

Moscow is also seeking a mutual legal renunciation of any compensation claims related to war losses, including economic damage and human casualties.

Protection of Russian-speaking citizens

Russia demands that Ukraine commit to European standards on minority rights, specifically to safeguard the rights of Russian-speaking citizens. In addition, Moscow calls for an end to what it terms “nationalist propaganda” within Ukrainian society.

Ukraine’s anti-corruption
crisis triggers protests

Zelensky’s move to centralize control over Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies sparked mass protests and EU backlash, putting billions in funding at risk

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky faced intense domestic and international backlash last month after signing a controversial law granting the prosecutor-general expanded control over two key anti-corruption institutions: the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

In a report published on the Financial Times (FT), Ivan Krastev stated that these institutions, created in Ukraine in 2013-2014 with strong Western support, have long been seen as cornerstones of Ukraine’s democratic accountability. Zelensky’s move sparked widespread concern that the law would compromise their independence and undermine Ukraine’s anti-corruption efforts.

The decision triggered the most serious diplomatic crisis yet between Kiev and its Western allies, with up to €60 billion in EU-linked financial support placed at risk, according to the report. It added that both the EU and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expressed alarm at the legislation, signaling that the move could jeopardize future aid disbursements unless reversed.

According to the FT, under mounting pressure from both international institutions and Ukrainian society, Zelensky abruptly reversed course, restoring the agencies’ autonomy. The episode underscored the enduring influence of public protest and international accountability in shaping policy.

The law's passage ignited the largest anti-government protests in Ukraine since the start of the war in 2022. Thousands poured into the streets of Kiev and other cities under banners reading "Corruption kills" and "Ukraine is not Russia."

The report highlights that until now, open criticism of the government during wartime had been considered taboo. The demonstrations marked a breaking point, a moment when civic outrage over corruption and institutional capture outweighed the pressure to maintain national unity at all costs.

Citizens defend democratic oversight

Corruption is widely blamed for the delayed construction of defensive fortifications and recent military setbacks. There is growing concern that the war itself, with its high stakes and massive financial flows, is creating new opportunities for abuse at the highest levels of government, the report argues.

Moreover, the report mentions that Zelensky’s attempt to consolidate power over anti-corruption bodies, which will likely shield loyalists facing scrutiny, was seen as a serious miscalculation. It adds that many believe he overestimated Western reluctance to criticize Ukraine during wartime and underestimated the strength of domestic resistance to authoritarian drift.

The Ukrainian crisis comes amid similar scenes in Bulgaria, where thousands recently protested the abuse of the country’s anti-corruption commission. In Sofia, demonstrators accused the nominally independent body of becoming a political tool used to discredit opposition figures, including the controversial arrest of the mayor of Varna.

Based on the report's analysis, ironically, those calling for the agency’s closure are the same political actors who originally empowered it. It adds that the episode raises broader concerns about selective justice, where anti-corruption mechanisms are used not to uphold the rule of law, but to shield allies and target opponents.

Protesters warn against selective justice

Both Ukraine and Bulgaria illustrate how easily anti-corruption agencies can be politicized if not properly safeguarded. While citizens in both countries reject corruption, they also recognize the dangers of institutions being captured and used as weapons in political conflict.

The central question is no longer whether anti-corruption bodies are needed, but how to ensure they remain genuinely independent. As the Bulgarian example shows, institutional design alone is not enough. Vigilant public oversight and the willingness to take to the streets remain essential.

Zelensky’s reversal may have averted a financial and political crisis for now, but the incident leaves behind a trail of concerns. It exposed the fragility of reforms under wartime conditions and the persistent temptation among leaders to use institutional control as a means of political self-preservation.

Ultimately, the Ukrainian president misjudged both Europe and his society. His attempt to subvert anti-corruption independence was an unforced error and a gift to Russia’s narrative about Ukraine’s governance, the report suggests.

As one protester warned, allowing any government to define who is corrupt is a dangerous step. In the words of Karl Lueger, the infamous mayor of Vienna, “I decide who is a Jew.” In today’s context, if corrupt regimes decide who is corrupt, democracy itself is at risk.

Putin, Witkoff discuss Ukraine war

The Russian president and US envoy discuss the Ukraine war and future Russia-US strategic cooperation amid signals from Trump

The Kremlin announced on Wednesday that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, which lasted approximately three hours, had concluded in the Kremlin.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff had engaged in discussions during their meeting, covering topics such as the Ukrainian crisis and the potential for advancing strategic cooperation between the United States and Russia.

"As for the topics covered, then, first of all, of course, it is the Ukrainian crisis. And the second topic is the prospects for the possible development of strategic cooperation between the United States and Russia," Kremlin aide Ushakov told reporters. He noted that the discussion between Putin and Witkoff was productive and held constructively.

Later in the day, US President Donald Trump reacted to the meeting between Wtikoff and Putin, calling it very productive and saying great progress was achieved
"My Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, just had a highly productive meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Great progress was made! Afterwards, I updated some of our European Allies. Everyone agrees this War must come to a close, and we will work towards that in the days and weeks to come," he wrote on Truth Social.

Meanwhile, a White House official told Al Mayadeen that according to the meeting between Russia and Witkoff that went well, "the Russians are eager to continue engaging with the United States," adding that, nevertheless, "the secondary sanctions are still expected to be implemented on Friday.”
Russia transmits signals regarding Ukraine war

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that during the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Russia had conveyed its position on the Ukrainian issue while also receiving corresponding signals from US President Donald Trump.

"The current situation is that our president has complete information, that is, our signals, signals from President Trump. And Trump has not yet been informed about the results of this meeting. Therefore, I would refrain from making more detailed comments," Ushakov stated.

"Let us see when Witkoff will be able to report on the conversation that took place today to Trump. After that, obviously, we will be able to supplement my comments with something more significant," he added.

Trump serious regarding peace in Ukraine

Meanwhile, White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett emphasized on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump is genuinely committed to facilitating a peaceful settlement of the Ukraine-Russia war, stating during an interview for Fox Business that "the President is serious about getting peace in Ukraine and Russia."

Trump to end US funding of Ukraine war

JD Vance says President Trump will end US funding for the Ukraine war and will meet Putin in Alaska on August 15 to seek a peaceful resolution

US President Donald Trump intends to halt US funding for Ukraine war efforts, with growing numbers of Americans opposing the continued use of taxpayer money to support the conflict, US Vice President JD Vance said on Sunday.

“The president and I certainly think that America, we are done funding the Ukraine war business. We want to bring about a peaceful settlement to this thing. We want to stop the killing. But Americans, I think, are sick of continuing to send their money, their tax dollars to this particular conflict,” Vance told Fox News.

According to the vice president, the administration would not object if European nations purchase weapons from US manufacturers to transfer to Ukraine.

"It's not going to make anybody super happy. Both the Russians and the Ukrainians, probably, at the end of the day, are going to be unhappy with it," he said.

Putin-Trump Alaska meeting set for August 15

Vance also revealed that Trump is confident about his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15, seeing it as a step toward easing US-Russia relations.

“Maybe this works out, maybe it doesn’t, but it’s worth the effort, it’s worth trying,” Vance quoted Trump as saying earlier on the day of the interview.

Trump confirmed on Thursday that his planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska next week will go ahead even if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky does not attend, signalling a shift from earlier White House conditions linking the summit to direct talks between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders.

Meanwhile, the Financial Times reported, citing sources close to the Ukrainian President, Zelensky was alarmed by Trump's decision to hold a face-to-face meeting with Russian President in Alaska without inviting Ukraine to participate.

Asked by reporters whether Putin would need to meet Zelensky in order for the US-Russia talks to take place, Trump was unequivocal: “No, he doesn’t. No.” This marked a departure from an earlier statement by a White House official suggesting that a Putin-Zelensky meeting was necessary for a summit to occur. That official later clarified that such a meeting was not an absolute requirement, but its absence would make the event less likely.

Zelensky aides accused
of €5bln laundering plot

A Ukrainian MP claims secret recordings reveal a failed bid by Zelensky’s allies to buy a French bank and legitimize billions in cryptocurrency

A Ukrainian legislator has accused members of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s inner circle of attempting to legalize €5 billion ($5.8 billion) in cryptocurrency through the acquisition of a French bank. The allegation was made on Monday by Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko.

According to Goncharenko, the claim has been based on the so-called “Mindich tapes”, recordings allegedly captured from the apartment of Timur Mindich, a close associate of the Ukrainian president. He said the tapes, reportedly made by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), contained references to a plan to channel €5 billion into the purchase of a French bank.

“The Mindich tapes… The story of how Zelensky’s inner circle was going to buy a French bank. Namely, this amount appears on the NABU tapes. So, how can these 5 billion euros be legalized? To buy a bank [in France], it was necessary to find a person… This person was Oleg Shurma, the brother of the former deputy head of Zelenskyy’s office, Rostyslav Shurma,” Goncharenko wrote on Telegram.

Goncharenko alleged that French regulators ultimately blocked Oleg Shurma’s attempt to acquire the bank and suggested that recent law enforcement activity in Germany may be linked to the case.

His remarks follow a July 25 report by Ukrainska Pravda, which said NABU had conducted searches in Germany at the home of Rostyslav Shurma, a former deputy to Andriy Yermak, head of the presidential office.

The outlet also reported that NABU may have recorded comments from Zelensky himself during the wiretap of Mindich’s residence.

Trump confirms 'land swap'
talks with Putin

Laying out his vision for a peace deal, Trump said it would involve compromise from both Ukraine and Russia

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss a potential “land swap” as part of efforts to end the war in Ukraine during their summit in Alaska on Friday.

At a White House press conference on Monday, Trump expressed frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for insisting that any deal involving territorial concessions must be approved through a national referendum.

“I was a little bothered by the fact that Zelensky was saying I have to get constitutional approval,” Trump said, citing that Zelensky has approval to "kill everybody," but needs approval for a land swap.

European diplomats have voiced concern over the lack of clarity from Washington about which Ukrainian territories Russia is demanding and under what terms a ceasefire would be negotiated. Some fear Trump may make risky concessions based on his perceived close relationship with Putin.

Laying out his vision for a peace deal, Trump said it would involve compromise from both sides. “We’re going to change the lines, the battle lines,” he said.

Tensions with allies ahead of the Alaska summit

Trump, increasingly impatient with how things have played out in the truce talks, has long said he does not see a ceasefire occurring until he meets Putin in person.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz invited Trump on Monday to join emergency virtual talks with EU leaders and Zelensky on Wednesday, as European demands grow that the US president agree to red lines before Friday’s summit with Putin.

Trump said on Monday that he would also seek to arrange direct talks between Putin and Zelensky, while Merz’s office said in a statement that the virtual talks would focus on further pressuring Russia and preparations for possible peace negotiations and related issues of territorial claims.

Ahead of the upcoming EU meeting, Brussels’ top diplomat Kaja Kallas voiced cautious support for Trump’s position, saying: “President Trump is right to say that Russia must end its war against Ukraine. The United States has the power to force Russia to negotiate seriously.”

However, Kallas emphasized that any agreement struck between Washington and Moscow must also involve Ukraine and the European Union, warning that the issue directly impacts European security and calling it "a security issue for Ukraine and for the whole of Europe."

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski echoed that stance, underlining Europe’s central role in the conflict as "paying for Ukraine to defend itself."
Pressure builds for broader sanctions

Merz spoke directly with President Trump on Sunday night, urging the US to impose additional economic sanctions on Russia ahead of Friday’s summit with Vladimir Putin. Merz also emphasized that any peace talks must include Zelensky, a stance complicated by Moscow’s refusal to recognize Zelensky’s government as legitimate, as his term as president has expired, and Zelensky has refused to hold elections since imposing martial law.

A joint statement issued Saturday by the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, the UK, Finland, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen backed Merz's view, stressing, “The path in Ukraine cannot be decided without Ukraine.” They also called on Trump to intensify pressure on Moscow.

Putin is expected to approach the Alaska summit confident in recent battlefield gains, aware of both Trump’s desire for a settlement and growing public fatigue in Ukraine. However, he also knows that failing to make a substantive offer could trigger harsher U.S. sanctions, long promised by Trump.

While Ukraine has accepted that it may not regain all territory lost in previous invasions, it remains strongly opposed to ceding more land without security guarantees or reciprocal concessions from Russia. European leaders insist that Ukraine must retain the freedom to build up its military and receive defense support from third countries, including NATO members.

Russia plans new Balkan gas
supply routes sidestepping Ukraine

Russia and Serbia are discussing new gas supply routes through the Balkans to bypass Ukraine, strengthening Serbia’s role as a transit hub for Russian Gas to Europe :D

Russian gas exports to Europe could soon follow new routes through the Balkans as Moscow and Belgrade discuss building additional pipelines to bypass Ukraine. A report by Izvestia on Tuesday stated that the move comes after Kiev halted Russian fuel transit at the start of 2025, forcing Hungary and Slovakia to rely solely on the Turkish Stream pipeline via Serbia.

According to Serbia’s Ministry of Mining and Energy, Belgrade aims to continue receiving as much gas as possible from Russia through the Balkan Stream, which already delivers over 80% of the country’s supply in 2025. In 2024, that figure reached a record 93%.

The report mentioned that a potential new gas pipeline linking Serbia to Hungary is under discussion between Gazprom, Serbiyagaz, and the Serbian government. The route could also increase supplies to Slovakia and Austria.

Serbia’s role as a transit hub for Russian Gas has grown since other export corridors, such as Nord Stream and Yamal-Europe, were shut down in 2022 due to political disputes and sabotage.

Ukraine transit halt reshapes European trade routes

With Ukraine refusing to extend its transit contract, Central European countries are now entirely dependent on gas flows through the Turkish Stream and Serbia. Pumping volumes through this route rose 7% in the first half of 2025 to 8.3 billion cubic meters.

The report mentions that Kiev and Brussels have expressed intentions to cut off Russian gas flows via Turkish Stream entirely. In January, Ukrainian drones attempted to attack a Russian compressor station that feeds the route.

The European Union aims to phase out Russian energy imports by 2027, a target that adds risk to new long-term infrastructure investments. Meanwhile, Serbia faces pressure from both Brussels and Washington to diversify supplies and join sanctions on Russia.

However, chief economist at TotalEnergies, Thomas-Olivier Leautier, says that Europe could restart importing Russian gas as soon as the Russia-Ukraine war comes to an end. "One way, shape or form, once the peace is signed, there will be gas flowing, certainly not at the level where it was not healthy for us, but there will be some Russian gas,"

Despite this, Serbian officials say they will continue a “sovereign” energy policy. Talks are underway to liberalize the gas market, potentially increasing imports from Azerbaijan or LNG from the US via Turkey and Bulgaria.

Alongside the gas discussions, oil and gas cooperation is expanding. Moscow, Belgrade, and Budapest are assessing the feasibility of a Serbia-Hungary oil pipeline connecting Novi Sad to Szeged and linking with the Druzhba system. The 180 km route, with a capacity of 3 million tons per year, could be operational by 2027.

Serbia currently imports most of its oil via Croatia’s Janaf pipeline. Officials say the new link would cut transport costs, bypass transit risks, and improve energy security

What is the right to decide their fate

It is a genuine right for indigenous peoples to choose the shape of their political system and to conduct their affairs freely, away from any external interference

The first article of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights is noted

It is an inalienable right, which no party, state or authority has the power to cancel or reduce

Any party or person that stands against your right to determine your destiny, stands against your liberty and constitutes a direct threat to your identity and existence, which is contrary to the principles of international ladder and security, as stated in National Resolution No. 1514 of 1960

In the Charter of the United Nations, the right to report fate is of special importance, as its realization is an essential condition for ensuring, promoting and protecting human rights.

It is also the legal and legitimate basis of the National Liberation Movement that is fighting for freedom and sovereignty on its land, and this struggle has the official support and endorsement of international organizations and the international community.

This means that following the ILLEGAL MILITARY COUP, the people of Donbass have the legal right to self determination

Putin ready for Ukraine deal

Trump hints at ceding Ukrainian land to Russia as he eyes a peace deal with Putin, a controversial move that risks isolating Kiev and shaking European unity

US President Donald Trump has claimed he believes Vladimir Putin is prepared to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine, as the two leaders prepare to meet in Alaska on Friday. But his suggestion that Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky could “divvy things up” may unsettle Kiev.

The US president estimated there was a 75% chance the Alaska talks would succeed, adding that the pressure of economic sanctions may have made the Russian leader more open to a settlement
Trump stressed he would not allow Putin to gain the upper hand, telling reporters, “I am president, and he’s not going to mess around with me :)) :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

I’ll know within the first two minutes, three minutes, four minutes or five minutes … whether or not we’re going to have a good meeting or a bad meeting. And if it’s a bad meeting, it’ll end very quickly, and if it’s a good meeting, we’re going to end up getting peace in the pretty near future.”

He added that a second, as-yet unconfirmed meeting involving himself, Putin, and Zelensky would likely be the decisive one. “The second meeting is going to be very, very important, because that’s going to be a meeting where they make a deal. And I don’t want to use the word ‘divvy’ things up, but you know, to a certain extent, it’s not a bad term, OK?” he told Fox News Radio.

Trump appeared to be referring to potential “land swaps”, in practice, ceding Ukrainian territory to Russia, possibly including areas not currently under Russian control
Later on Thursday, he suggested that such a trilateral meeting could take place soon, potentially also in Alaska. “Tomorrow, all I want to do is set the table for the next meeting, which should happen shortly. I’d like to see it actually happen, maybe in Alaska,” he said.

Trump acknowledged he was unsure whether an immediate ceasefire could be reached but said, “I believe now, he’s convinced that he’s going to make a deal. I think he’s going to, and we’re going to find out.”

Zelensky faces precarious political predicament

Zelensky may face a difficult decision if Putin refuses Kiev’s demand for a full 30-day ceasefire and offers only a partial halt in hostilities, particularly if Trump still wishes to proceed with a three-way meeting
The Ukrainian leader spent Thursday in London, discussing Wednesday’s video call with European leaders and Trump with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. European officials were broadly reassured by the conversation, but remain wary of Trump’s unpredictability and tendency to act on instinct rather than follow a script.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said shifting battlefield conditions could complicate any peace effort. “To achieve a peace, I think we all recognise that there’ll have to be some conversation about security guarantees,” he said.

Trump has previously rejected offering such guarantees, but Rubio said European-led assurances might be possible. He added that Trump had spoken to Putin by phone four times and “felt it was important to now speak to him in person and look him in the eye and figure out what was possible and what isn’t.”

Starmer and Zelensky met for breakfast at Downing Street on Thursday and hailed “a visible chance for peace,” provided that Putin was serious about ending the war

remember it was UK's Boris Johnson who TWICE stopped earlier peace agreements going ahead

European leaders came away from Wednesday’s discussions reassured that Trump’s priority in Alaska would be securing a durable ceasefire from Putin, rather than negotiating without Ukraine’s involvement.

Wider context

Plans for Trump and Putin to hold a joint press conference after their talks suggest the White House is optimistic about a breakthrough. Moscow, however, wants the summit to address not only Ukraine but also steps to revive US-Russian economic cooperation.

A Downing Street summary said Starmer and Zelensky expressed cautious optimism about a truce “as long as Putin takes action to prove he is serious” about peace.

On Wednesday, Starmer co-chaired a virtual meeting of the “coalition of the willing”, a European-led initiative to deploy a peacekeeping force to Ukraine in support of any deal, saying there was a “viable” chance of a truce.

On Thursday, the prime minister embraced Zelensky outside No 10 in a public show of solidarity, echoing displays following their tense February White House meeting, when Trump and Zelensky clashed in front of the cameras.

Starmer said further sanctions could be imposed if Moscow failed to engage, and confirmed the UK was already preparing its next package of measures.

Trump has long said he can only gauge the prospects for peace by meeting Putin directly. He downplayed expectations for Friday’s talks but warned there would be “very severe consequences” for Russia if Putin refused to agree to a ceasefire, a veiled threat to escalate US sanctions on Russian oil exports.

Although he has so far refrained from such measures, the US is set to impose new tariffs on Indian imports later this month as punishment for New Delhi’s continued purchase of Russian oil. The UK would prefer Washington to consider more targeted sanctions, such as on Russia’s “shadow fleet” of oil tankers or on refineries using Russian crude.

Moscow, however, has indicated it wants the Alaska summit to yield agreements on renewed US-Russian economic cooperation, which could ease pressure on its finances.

Some European leaders were encouraged by US Vice-President JD Vance’s detailed grasp of the issues during Wednesday’s call, and by signs that Trump might be willing to contribute US assets to a European-led security guarantee for Ukraine if a deal is reached.

The summit is scheduled to begin at 11:30 am local time (8:30 pm BST) with a one-on-one meeting between Trump and Putin, followed by wider discussions.

The Russian delegation will include Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Russian sovereign wealth fund chief Kirill Dmitriev, and foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov.

Western media silence on anti-conscription
anti-war protests in Ukraine

Banning of rallies during martial law does not apply to rallies held in the name of protesting corruption, while Ukraine’s entire policing apparatus is unleashed against anti-conscription protests

In early August, the most discussed topic in Ukrainian society concerns protests against the governing regime in Kiev, including their future prospects. Beginning July 23, two different forms of public demonstrations erupted in Ukraine, quite opposite in their aims. One-sided reporting of them by Western media agencies has revealed to the Ukrainian population this media’s hypocrisy and double standards.

Protests in Kiev by pro-Western NGOs erupted late on July 22, quickly earning the moniker ‘Cardboard Maidan’. This refers to the cardboard signs being carried by protesters (bearing demands similar to those of the ‘Euromaidan’ protests, which began on Maidan Square in central Kiev in late 2013 and led to the violent, paramilitary coup of February 2014).

Protesters gathered in their thousands in Kiev beginning on the evening of July 23 and during the days following to condemn the decision of the regime of the unelected ‘president’ Volodomyr Zelensky to severely weaken the work and the powers of the two leading anti-corruption agencies of the Ukrainian state.

The sham role of anti-corruption agencies

The agencies were created at the insistence of Western embassies following the 2014 coup but have never actually fought corruption. They have served, instead, to warn or chastise certain thieving officials in the governing regime and economy of the country.

The record shows that even if a government or police official is caught taking a bribe, he or she is rarely convicted of anything or sentenced to prison. Instead, ‘anti-corruption’ agencies usually oblige the accused to ‘make a deal’ with investigators, after which the accused typically find employment at Western embassies or non-governmental organizations.

In reality, these agencies have served as tools for external control of Ukraine and the Zelensky-led governing regime.

Zelensky and his legislature (both of whose electoral terms expired in April 2024) approved a bill on July 22 that would henceforth subordinate the work of anti-corruption agencies to the presidential office of Zelensky. The bill was approved within a couple of hours of the meeting, and following the vote, legislators were quickly sent on vacation.

“Corruption has eaten away at the office of the Ukraine president. As anti-corruption agencies get closer to Zelensky’s closest thieves, NABU detectives are being arrested and NABU itself is being disbanded,” writes Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shariy, who previously fled Ukraine to Spain
In July, the work of anti-corruption agents and their two leading agencies began to get uncomfortably close to Zelensky’s own entourage and relatives. In response, agents of the SBU (national secret police agency), who are entirely controlled by Zelensky and his regime, began searching and arresting investigators of the National Anticorruption Bureau (NABU), as well as those of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor (SAPO). SBU officers accused the agents of ‘working for Russia’.

Zelensky’s team hoped that since the anti-corruption agencies being targeted had been created during the previous US presidential administration of Joseph Biden, the administration now led by Donald Trump would be unlikely to defend them.

The reaction of Western media and embassies to the turn of the Zelensky regime against the agencies was immediate. The British and American media began accusing Zelensky of authoritarianism. Representatives of Western NGOs took to the streets of Kiev carrying their cardboard protest signs.

Formally, any and all protest rallies are prohibited in Ukraine under martial law, but this was a case of protest by several thousand people who happen to work for Western embassies or for NGOs whose salaries are paid directly or indirectly by the embassies.

A further reason for the ‘courage’ of these protesters in taking to the streets is that all employees of Western NGOs in Ukraine are exempt from conscription and cannot, therefore, be punished by the threat of immediate conscription.

Those who work directly for a Western government or Western-financed NGO are considered to be an ‘elite’ in wartime Ukraine, unlike the workers in Ukrainian enterprises who keep the country and its war running, so to speak. The recent protesters in Kiev have covered their actions in nationalist slogans reminiscent of the 2014 Euromaidan coup, demanding Zelensky’s resignation and accusing him of betraying the ‘ideals of Europe’.

Zelensky was soon forced to repeal the law, having lost face and being subject to public humiliation. Legislators were hastily called back from vacation on July 30. Within a day, they solemnly adopted a bill, unanimously no less, repealing the bill they had passed one week earlier.

This case showed Ukrainians who is the real boss in the country. Legislator Alexander Dubinsky writes that starting from August 1 (the day after the repeal of the presidential order and legislation to weaken anti-corruption agencies), “The president will begin a new and interesting life — a phase of explanatory diplomacy in 24/7 mode.”

In other words, Zelensky will have to steadily twist and turn as he continues to tell Western sponsors that there is no corruption in Ukraine, and adds that Russia is trying to frame him. Ukrainians and Russians have a saying ‘to wriggle like an eel’; many are now using this to describe Zelensky’s behavior.

Marat Basharov, a professor at the Russian Higher School of Economics, believes that anti-corruption agencies were created by the Western powers in Ukraine in order to gather information on who is stealing in Ukraine, by how much, and then bring such individuals and groups of individuals under the supervision of the Ukrainian elite as a whole through their state institutions.

He writes that “the anti-corruption agencies work not for justice but for the CIA: everything that agents of NABU collect, including documents, wiretaps and other products of surveillance, have gone to the U.S. embassy and from there to Washington. NABU has also created a whole network of informants to snitch and betray; the amount of compromising material so collected is enormous.”

Ukraine as mercenary state

Ukrainian media outlets are citing threats by the International Monetary Fund and the European Union to cut off funding as being the main reason for Zelensky’s retreat. Currently, Ukraine’s entire budget--including government spending and social payments, building and maintenance of infrastructure, and provision of military supplies--depends entirely on the continued ‘generosity’ of the Western powers.

In early August, the head of the financial committee of Ukraine’s national legislature, Danil Getmantsev, stated that everything in Ukraine that is not related to the war is being paid for by the West, but most of this is in the form of loans. According to him, Ukraine does not use its own budget revenues for non-military needs; all tax revenues are directed exclusively to the country’s military.

According to Bloomberg News on July 25, the Zelensky-led regime is preparing to demand that countries of the European Union undertake the financing of the salaries of Ukrainian military personnel. Should the EU concur, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will formally become what it already acts like: a mercenary army. So far, news outlets in Europe are silent on the matter.

The Estonian vice-president of the EU, Kaja Kallas, issued a statement on August 6 stating, “The EU and its member states remain committed to provide Ukraine and its people with all the necessary political, financial, economic, humanitarian, military, and diplomatic support, for as long as it takes and as intensely as needed.”

Ukrainian economist Alexei Kushch cautions that Ukraine is approaching complete and irreversible bankruptcy. He told a podcast on July 30, “Soon, our creditors may start lining up to divide up strategic assets. The Americans will shout that they have an investment fund and will show off papers to this effect, the Brits will wave a century-old agreement with Ukraine (giving them privileged consultation on government decisions), and the EU will talk about a Ukraine ‘association’ (integration). Someone in charge will shout ‘Get in line, you sons of bitches, get in line!”

In financial terms, Zelensky is like a swindler who has managed to mortgage the same property to multiple banks all at once. But this is impossible to pull off if the Western officials who allocate loans to Kiev from their state public budgets are not themselves involved.

Suppression of protests against conscription

Alongside the protests opposing any restrictions on Western financial control over Ukraine, spontaneous protests against forced conscription are also rising in the country daily. The largest of recent protests took place on August 1 in the city of Vinnytsia in south-central Ukraine (app. 200 km southwest of Kiev, pre-war population of 350,000).

A crowd of women and youths stormed a stadium where more than 100 forcibly conscripted men were being held. Zelensky threw all available police and SBU forces against the protesters, including the use of tear gas.

Western media stubbornly ignore reporting on anti-conscription protests. Instead, they pay close attention to rallies by handfuls of nationalists employed at Western-funded NGOs in a regional center, while there is total silence when it comes to protests against conscription.

Banning of rallies during martial law does not apply to rallies held in the name of protesting corruption, while Ukraine’s entire policing apparatus is unleashed against anti-conscription protests. These examples are serving as living proof to ordinary Ukrainian citizens of the hypocrisy and double standards of the Western media and Ukrainian authorities.

One exception to Western media silence over conscription is a recent report in the Financial Times (paywalled) entitled ‘Shoved into vans, slashing tyres, Ukrainians balk at conscription’. The report notes that resistance to the recruiters is growing in Ukrainian society but concludes, oddly, that this is being stoked by Zelensky’s refusal to respond to calls from the West to begin conscription of young people under the age of 25.

The Ukrainian online publication Strana wrote on August 5 that intolerance toward military recruiters and the law enforcement officers assisting them is growing in Ukrainian society, and this could lead to even more clashes between civilians and recruiters. The confrontations will only intensify, Strana believes, if rumors of an upcoming reduction in the conscription age from 25 to 18, long demanded by Western governments, are confirmed.

An anarchist writing from Odessa, Vyacheslav Azarov, sees the protest at the stadium in Vinnytsia as the beginning of a new phase of resistance to conscription. “The stunning nighttime storming by protesters of the Lokomotiv stadium in Vinnytsia, where forcibly mobilized recruits were being detained, marks a new phase in the tensions in the Ukrainian rear.

Ukrainians are tired of the war. Not only the relatives and friends of the victims of the recruiters but also representatives of certain public organizations tried to rescue the prisoners from the stadium, so much so that the police had to use tear gas and batons in order to disperse them.”

Legislator Alexander Dubinsky, who has been detained for the past 21 months under criminal accusations of treason, has written an appeal to Donald Trump, seeking to draw his attention to the arbitrariness of the recruiters and police in Vinnytsia. “The situation in Ukraine is escalating,” he writes. There are fierce clashes between civilians, the TCC [military recruiters], and the police.

People are rising up against the violent mobilization of their sons, husbands, and brothers. Men are being grabbed off the streets like cattle, beaten, forced to sign consent forms to participate in the war, and then are sent straight to the front lines.

Dubinsky emphasizes in his open letter to Trump that Ukraine’s Western allies are closely following and publicizing the protests in Kiev defending the anti-corruption agencies being targeted, but are failing to report the news of “pregnant women being tear-gassed for simply demanding to know whether their son, husband or brother is alive”. He believes that without a reaction from the US government to Zelensky’s terror, he will continue to denigrate and destroy the Ukrainian people and nation.

In another post to social media about the protests against conscription, this one dated August 4, Dubinsky admits that the West is keen to see continued ‘busification’ (forced conscription) of Ukrainians, so help and sympathy should not be expected from there.

Since war is the approved policy of the EU and the U.S. towards Ukraine, it is impossible to expect them to protest against the actions of the military recruiters and the police who enforce the conscription policy. But if the Ukrainian authorities decide to push back and protest against external control over their actions, then protesting is allowed.

Understand this, serfs, writes the imprisoned Ukrainian legislator

The Ukrainian underground organization ‘Workers’ Front of Ukraine’ (WFU) is asking why the spontaneous protest in Vinnytsia was not supported by thousands more city residents. “What about the rest of the city; couldn’t more concerned people have protested in Vinnytsia?"

Yes, they could have. After all, the protesters launched an online broadcast, and its broadcast information instantly spread across social media networks. But more people did not rally”, the WFU laments. Activists of the organization call this a disgrace for Ukrainian society, which they accuse of “meekly going to the slaughter, its members acting like sheep being set upon by wolves.

The Ukrainian magazine Liberal notes that Zelensky’s administration is preparing for an increase in spontaneous protests and intends to suppress them with particular force. “Volodymyr Zelensky has long since established himself as a full-fledged dictator. He may show his true colors in the challenging times ahead”, Liberal writes.

According to the magazine’s sources, prisoners convicted of criminal offenses are being transferred out of prisons in the Kiev region. The publication concludes that this is happening in order to make room for a coming wave of detentions of political prisoners.

The liberal-left publication Assembly in the city of Kharkiv (the second largest city in Ukraine) notes that the civil conflict unfolding on the streets of Ukraine between the people and the repressive forces of the state is continuing unabated, although it does not attract as much media headlines as do the rallies protesting the curtailment of the powers of anticorruption agencies. (Many Ukrainians call these particular allies a ‘competition among parasites’.)

Assembly acknowledges, nevertheless, that in Kharkov, “rebelling while on one’s knees remains the lot of protesting civilians”. It says that “Soldiers voting with their feet by conducting mass desertions have a much better chance of stopping the ‘conveyor belt of death’ taking place on Ukrainian soil compared to protesting on one’s knees.”

In early August, legislator Anna Skorokhod stated that the total number of desertions in the Ukrainian army had reached almost 400,000. That amounts to a rate of desertion of some 40 per cent of Ukrainian army recruits (voluntary or conscripted, with some deserters being recaptured or returning of their own accord)
In this situation, the tactics of the advancing Russian army have changed somewhat, as reported by the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, in early August. According to him, there is now a “total penetration” of Russian army groups into the rear of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the front lines. The Ukrainian army does not have enough personnel to cover the entire front line, so Russian soldiers often bypass its sparse positions, creating panic and chaos in its operations.

There appears to be no way out of the morass for the Kiev regime. That includes the upcoming meeting in Alaska between the Russian and US presidents. The meeting was supposed to offer some hope for the Trump regime in Washington that a ceasefire could be agreed on that would halt the accelerating Russian military advances.

But Russia says the original goals of its military intervention in Ukraine—demilitarization and ‘de-Nazification’ of Ukraine--remain in place, while US media is reporting on August 12 that the White House now expects the meeting in Alaska to be limited to ‘exchanges of information'.
