BREXIT : a good lesson for other UE members

PostAuthor: Piling » Fri Jun 24, 2016 6:37 am

I hope that the economical crash of UK will be a good lesson for all anti UE people in other countries :D

But in an objective perspective, I invite all people living in UK to tell, day by day, the consequences (good or bad) following the BREXIT.

In any case, it is a dark day for brits living in Europe, especially in France, where they populate our desert countries :

I am really worried about the future. In addition to economic consequences, there is security issues. We may lose peace in N Ireland and lose Scotland. If scots leave us there will be serious issues about N. Sea resources, which could become nasty.

Nicole Sturgeon seems to make things very clear concerning Scotland :

I feel sad for people who voted Remain. It would be a terrible feeling to be trapped in its own country, now.

Scotland has always wanted to be free from UK because rest of UK claims too much of what Scotland sees as their property - their fishing rights - their North Sea Oil

Also, Scotland does NOT want UK nuclear submarine bases on their coasts

Most Scottish people firmly believe that their earlier Referendum, that showed them wanting to remain in UK, was in some way FIXED

No Scot speaking to another Scot would ever admit to having voted to remain in the UK =))

EU referendum: Shocked members urge solidarity and change

Shocked EU leaders have called for stability and solidarity - but also for change and reform - after the UK voted to leave the organisation.

President of the European Council Donald Tusk said the remaining 27 members were determined to stay united.

But leaders like Italian PM Matteo Renzi said the EU had to change and become "more human and more just".

The UK voted by 52% to 48% to leave the EU after 43 years. David Cameron has announced he will step down as PM.

Global stock markets fell heavily on the news and the value of the pound has also fallen dramatically.

The European parliament has called a special session for next Tuesday to assess the vote, while foreign ministers of the six founding nations of the EU - Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg, will meet in Berlin on Saturday.

Some leaders of EU member states, such as France's Francois Hollande, held their own crisis talks on Friday.

European parliament president Martin Schulz, president of the European Council Donald Tusk, European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker and Dutch PM Mark Rutte also went into emergency talks.

Alarm bells - BBC Europe editor, Katya Adler

The EU worries Brexit could reverse 70 years of European integration.

In all my years watching European politics, I have never seen such a widespread sense of Euroscepticism.

Plenty of Europeans looked on with envy as Britain cast its In/Out vote. Many of the complaints about the EU raised by the Leave campaign resonated with voters across the continent.

Across Europe leading Eurosceptic politicians queued up this morning to crow about the UK referendum result.

But the mood in Brussels is deeply gloomy. The Brexit vote sends screaming alarm bells, warning that the EU in its current form isn't working.

Some EU politicians, including Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, have expressed fears of a domino effect from Brexit that could threaten the whole organisation.

Leaders of Eurosceptic parties in France, the Netherlands and Italy quickly demanded referendums in their own countries.

Reacting to the vote, UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage said "the EU is dying".

But Mr Tusk said this was "not a moment for hysterical reactions".

He said he was "determined to keep our unity as 27" members.

Many EU leaders expressed shock and dismay at the vote. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Friday was "a sad day for Europe and for the United Kingdom", while Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski called it "bad news for Europe, bad news for Poland".

Tough line

But many also urged solidarity.

Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Roivas said: "We must... work hard so that we do not lose the unity of the European Union."

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said "the European project remains valid to defend the values that mark our common identity".

Danish PM Lars Loekke Rasmussen stressed his country "belongs to the European Union".

Czech PM Bohuslav Sobotka said: "Despite the disappointment many of us feel... we must realise that this is not the end of the world and it's absolutely not the end of the EU."

But he also echoed the voices of many in calling for change, saying: "Europe must be more operational, flexible, less bureaucratic and much more perceptive to the diversity that its member states represent."

Matteo Renzi tweeted: "We have to change it to make it more human and more just, but Europe is our home, it's our future."

Meanwhile, German MEP Manfred Weber, from the party of Chancellor Angela Merkel, insisted on a tough line for the UK: "There cannot be any special treatment for the United Kingdom. Leave means leave. The times of cherry-picking are over."

As part of his attempts to win a Remain vote, Mr Cameron agreed a deal with the EU in February to protect London's financial markets, curb immigration and opt out of closer union.

That deal is ended by the Leave vote.

“Free at last, Free at last, Thank God almighty we are free at last.”
By Martin Luther King Jr

“Free at last, Free at last, Thank the Gods we are free at last.”
My version :ymdevil:

All peoples deserve self government and Independence

Kurds do not want to have laws of other countries pushed upon them

Neither do the English and the Welsh

Now UK is free I expect it will be far more supportive and understanding towards the plight of Kurds

I know that if Boris Johnson does become PM Kurds will receive a lot more support from UK

Boris has shown a great deal of interest in Kurds over the years and has visited Kurdish centres and met with Kurdish leaders

I view an Independent UK as a stepping stone to an Independent Kurdistan :ymapplause:

Dutch anti-immigration leader Wilders calls for Dutch referendum on EU membership

Dutch anti-immigration leader Geert Wilders called on Friday for a referendum on the Netherlands' membership in the European Union after Britain voted to leave the 28-member bloc.

Wilders, who is leading opinion polls, said if he is elected prime minister in March general elections in the Netherlands he too will call a referendum.

“We want be in charge of our own country, our own money, our own borders, and our own immigration policy," he said in a statement.

"As quickly as possible the Dutch need to get the opportunity to have their say about Dutch membership of the European Union."

A survey by a television channel Een Vandaag this week found that 54 percent of the people in the Netherlands, a founding EU member, want a referendum.

Dutch voters have twice voiced strong anti-EU sentiment at the polls, most recently in April when a vast majority rejected the Ukraine-EU treaty in a nonbinding referendum. [A5N162015]

"It is time for a new start, relying on our own strength and sovereignty. Also in the Netherlands," Wilders said.

"If I become prime minister, there will be a referendum in the Netherlands on leaving the European Union as well. Let the Dutch people decide.”

UK problem is not based on racism - most of UK does not have any racial problems

Recently some Muslim groups have been spreading leaflets throughout their communities urging them to kill other Muslim sects

Half of EU regulations go directly into UK law without any chance of blocking - the other half of EU regulations can be questioned and altered if need be

The British do NOT want all the EU laws

Nor does want substandard meat produce coming into UK from EU farms where animals are raised in terrible tortures conditions

Many diseases such as salmonella have been wiped out in UK bred birds bt it is still in many EU products

UK is a country of animal lovers and out treatment of animals is among the best in the world - our standards are extremely high

Most UK people do not want EU raised animal food imports - people complained so much that in recent years UK shops have labelled food produce to enable us to buy UK bred animal produce

UK wants to trade with the Commonwealth again

The commonwealth supported UK during WW2 - many people came here to fight for UK

After the war many people came from the commonwealth to help rebuild the UK

Commonwealth workers were the backbone of UK service industries - they also staffed our hospitals - now it is almost impossible for them to come here and work

UK wants to trade with the world :ymhug:

The split will be also between generations, I guess. UK youth blocked to work and study in 27 neighbored countries… They will be the undesirable migrants…

I wonder if Commonwealth will protect UK from migrants considering the high level of migrations to Canada and Australia ?

Some UK companies moved to Commonwealth countries in order to escape from EU trade restrictions and enable them to trade worldwide

Most of the large companies which wanted to remain in UK, were companies that had political connections (many have MPs on their board of directors) and massive tax breaks

UK has been infested with a great many crazy EU regulations - I am personally involved ion righting some of the damage EU has inflicted on our canal system

UK has a vast network of purpose-build canals - narrow man-made rivers built as a transport system for good ranging from cotton to coal and large potteries were also based on canals

Such trade vanished with the expansion of the road and rail networks

Because these canals (running through some of the most beautiful countryside in UK) were man-made they needed a certain amount of maintenance

The EU forbade UK from maintaining and dredging the canal system - this is just one of the crazy EU regulations forced upon UK

It is part of EU attempts to destroy UK agricultural system and encourage us to buy more from EU countries

I only know all the details because I am involved with a group trying to raise several million pounds to dredge a canal and reopen it for narrow boat usage

There are hundreds possibly thousands of such regulations X(

Osborne finally breaks silence as politicians call for him to resign for EU scaremongering

George Osborne will face pressure to step down as Chancellor

This comes as a senior Eurosceptic said that it was "not important" that Osborne stays in Government.

Tory MP and prominent Vote Leave campaigner Steve Baker said last night it was critical that David Cameron continued as Prime Minister but it was not as "equally important" that Osborne stayed on as Chancellor.

He said: “What is best for the country is that after this result in the morning, whatever the result, is that David Cameron is in place to begin carrying it through.”

MEP Jane Collins said: “What is evident from these results is that the working men and women of this country were not represented by the main parties but did not believe the relentless scaremongering by Project Fear.

“I also firmly believe that George Osborne, who has spent the last months deriding the British economy and British workers, can no longer stay in position as Chancellor. He used tax payers money to create bizarre economic models to bamboozle voters.

“The establishment elite patronised the people of this country and treated them like idiots and they have responded with the message that they don't want to be ruled by Brussels or people who think so little of their abilities as the remain camp clearly did.”

David Cameron leaving his central London polling station with his wife Samantha

But when quizzed over the fate of Mr Osborne, anti-EU Baker added: “I don’t think it’s equally important, no.

"But it is a matter for the Prime Minister it’s not a matter for backbenchers."

Mr Osborne said on Twitter today: “It was a hard fought campaign. It is not the outcome I wanted but I respect decision of British people and will do all I can to make it work”.

“George Osborne had a rough ride from everyone over his punishment Budget. I spoke to many Remain Conservative MPs who thought it was a ludicrous idea.

"George Osborne will have to rescue quite a lot with MPs on both sides.”

“I’m not going to call for anybody’s resignation that’s not the game."

Osborne, 45, campaigned alongside David Cameron for Britain to remain in the EU.

And yesterday's vote saw the public go against opinion polls which predicted a narrow Remain victory.

We are going to pay a high price.

EU will make a lesson of us for other members.

This why they want us to leave soon

Exactly. It is a good way, for Hollande, Merkel, Dutch government, etc., to weaken the anti UE parties, like FN, and to warn any other country about the consequences.

But UK won't leave in fact before 2 years (according the the UE rules). At first, it needs to write an official letter asking to resign. Then, it will be a hard and long process to renegotiate all the current treaties and settings…

Concerning the status of UK trades in UE it won't be very advantageous. Even Swiss is more bound to UE laws than UK now, for Swiss had accepted the free circulation of people (except Croatia).

So I wonder if UK will be more in the internal European trading than USA…

People forget UK ran happily for hundreds of years trading internationally

EU limited UK international trade

Many companies that started in UK moved out so that they could trade internationally - one of the most well-known ones being Dyson

When we think of Dydson - we remember what EU has done to vacuum cleaners

As a dog owner - along with many other dog and cat owners throughout the UK - when we need to buy a new vacuum cleaner we discover

VACUUM CLEANERS HAVE NO POWER

Thanks to EU regulations we can no longer buy vacuum cleaners powerful enough to pick up animal hairs X(

Many vacuum cleaners are designed to stick closer to the floor to compensate for lower power - for people with deep pie carpets - forget it
