Can anyone tell me exactly what the major difference is between halal and non-halal meat? And why halal meat should be banned but kosher or any other method of preparation should not.

I will try to be brief:

In UK Muslims can request halal meat - the indigenous non-Islamic population cannot request non-halal meat

A great deal of halal meat is on supermarket shelves without being stamped as halal - many people are leaving the large supermarkets and returning to local butchers because they do not want halal meat

Halal butchers are not trained to the same high standards as required in the UK meat industry

Some farmers are being threatened that if they refuse halal butchers they might face court action

Farmers were going to increase the power used to stun animals but Muslims have prevented this from taking place

United Kingdom Census 2011 (latest figures available) Muslims 4.8% of the total population - cannot have gone up much more in past 3 years

UK is less than 6% Muslim - more than 94% non-Muslims - the non-Muslims should have the right to non-halal food if that is what they want (sorry I was just guessing figures when I first wrote this post)

Some of my Muslim Kurdish friends are being asked by their customers to provide non-halal produce - the customer is always right

I have been trying for several weeks to locate a supply of non-halal produce and found it virtually impossible

You have said "Why must everyone in the world accept European values, culture and influence"

Surely then you must understand that British people do not feel they should be expected to accept Islamic values, culture and influence :D

You must live in the Pakistani community or a Muslim community. Whenever I go to the local and western supermarkets here, i find meat exclusively produced in European butcheries. There is only one halal supplier and a few minor meat processors. This is nothing compared to the economic influence europeans have on kurdistan or other middle-eastern nations.

I don't see westerners who visit or live in muslim countries complain about halal meat, it's only when they get in contact with these hysterical media articles regarding muslims, that they suddenly sprout consciousness about halal produce. Nevermind that other communities(like jews) have had the same practice for centuries before any Muslims arrived in Europe, it's only pointed out and scrutinized when it's Muslims doing it or anything really.

You're making shit up about halal not being available, or you live in a predominantly muslim community and you're too dense to shop in areas outside of it.

Unlike many people on this site - neither Piling or myself actually tell lies X(

Market research among potential customers told us that they did not want halal produce - in business the customer is always right

I have been searching for reliable source of non halal produce for about a month now

First I tried local butchers and was informed by them that they could not guarantee a supply of non-halal produce - even though their customers have requested non-halal produce and they themselves have requested it from their suppliers - a large percentage of produce still goes to them stamped as being halal

Almost all lamb coming into UK from abroad is halal

If experienced butchers cannot find a guaranteed supply of non-halal produce - it is a great deal more difficult for people such as myself with considerably less experience and very few contacts in the farming industry - through the contacts I do have I learnt how of the threats by so-called halal butchers to farms and large abattoirs

I do not live in a Muslim community - I live in an English country village :ymhug:

My search is not confined to any specific locality - I am looking in the south of England for non-halal English farm produce - and as it is for a business it has to be a source able to guarantee the provision of a long-term supply - my next step is to contact some more farms directly

So your only real argument is that halal meat is supposedly lower quality?
