Report 2012 about 'familial crimes' in France

PostAuthor: Piling » Mon Jun 10, 2013 9:25 am

In 2012, 148 women have been murdered by their husband or their ex-partner (Eleven more than in 2011). Among these cases, 9 children were killed with their mother.

In most of the cases, the murderer is between 41-60 years, French nationality (no informations concerning ethnic or religious background, according to the French Law.) He is jobless and did not premeditate the crime, for which he used a gun, mostly because he can not accept divorce.

26 men were murdered by their own wife or partner. Among them 17 of these murderesses were abused by their victim. In most of the cases, they are married, jobless, and did not premeditate the crime, for which they used cold steel, mostly because they want to stop violences and abuses from her husband or during a discuss.

In 50% of cases (both genders), some substances (alcohol, drugs, psychotropic drugs) may alter the judgment of the perpetrator or the victim at the time of the facts.

I don't know the numbers from other countries, it could be interesting to compare.

Have not managed to find England domestic crime figures yet - perhaps they are too afraid to publish them in case they frighten women off getting married ;)

I tried various web sites to try and find the figures for England - then saw this - MP mentions several figures of attacks on women including - 2 women are murdered by husbands/partners each week

BBC News

MP told to cover up for Page 3 debate

An MP has been reprimanded for wearing a T-shirt displaying the slogan "No More Page Three" in large lettering during a parliamentary debate.

Caroline Lucas, Britain's only Green MP, was speaking on sexism in the media.

But the MP chairing the session, Labour's Jimmy Hood, told her she was in breach of Westminster's dress code, and ordered her to cover up.
