Growing numbers of French people are choosing to eat low-cost fast food as the cost of living in the country continues to rise.

Last year 54% of total restaurant turnover went to fast food and sandwich shops - the first time "convenience" food outstripped the market of the traditional French brasserie.

France the home of the best food in the world - the country that set standards others try to achieve

American fashion, probably. Or because when people are at work, fast food is the cheapest and fastest way to eat something. Or because they don't know cook themselves.

I don't eat at lunch but if I would do, I should have chosen with expensive brasseries or a sandwich (I don't like panini and I hate bad pizzas or hamburgers. If I want to eat I have a Japanese Bento and I eat at work.

French brasseries are not better btw. They serve ready-made meal, which were frozen or 'sous-vide', for a twice or thrice of their price : the paper talk about Paris, which is a trap for tourists :p

The last 10 years, we have watched a serious invasion of kebab salon. One of the most horrible places where to eat, full of dirty old cow meat.
