French drivers are bad also. But in Kurdistan for example, it is 500% worse, though mostly don't drink alcohol : they drive too fast, and have no clue of what a safety rule could be.
Another fact is that cars are not technically controlled. Some cars are in very bad state and are dangerous.
The other fact could be the bad state of roads, in some areas and driving in mountains is more dangerous.
Generally many Kurds consider that hanging a 'blue eye' or a 'Allah u akbar' amulet is enough to keep safe at 200 km/ h on a muddy road with an old car
