On Tuesday, an online petition launched demanding Katy Perry`s new music video “Dark Horse” to be removed from Youtube for containing scenes that are seen as blasphemy.

The music video shows a man wearing an Allah pendant being burned by Katy Perry, who plays a queen-like figure in the video. The exact seen could be seen at 1:15 into the video in which Perry hits the man with a lightning bolt and disintegrates him into sand, his pendant also disappearing with him.

The video also features other nonsensical scenes such as “cat-human” hybrids, which appear as body guards for the singer, a dog which walks on its hind legs, and Perry eating spicy junk food.

For now, the petition collected over 30,000 signatures and it claims that, “that people from different walks of life, different religions and from different parts of the world, agree that the video promotes blasphemy, using the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner would be considered inappropriate by any religion.”

Perry`s Dark Horse now tops the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 list, and it is her third single from her new album “Prism.” The music video which was released on Feb. 20 on Perry`s official Twitter account, currently has nearly 30 million views,

Worth mentioning, Perry`s hit “Unconditionally” also received criticism for showing a “regressive representation” of Japanese culture at the American Music Awards.

It happened so fast that unless someone was actually studying the video second by second trying to find fault - I doubt that anyone would have noticed it X(

I was not impressed with the music or vocals but thought the video to be rather fun :ymapplause:
