
Two Kurdish women win seats in Germany’s municipality election

In the Municipality Election in Koln, Germany, which last Sunday with European Parliamentary election, was held, two Kurdish women under the list of two different parties selected as the member of the Municipality council.
Berivan Aymaz, and Hamida Akbayer were those two Kurdish candidates in the Germany Municipality Election.
Aymaz from the Green Party won the 21% of the votes and the chance of her candidacy is high to get the Head of the Municipality.
Aymaz also was the Green Party candidate in Germany parliamentary election but failed to won.
At the same elections, Akbayer from left party won 6.95% of the votes and became the representative of the cities of Mannheim and Bochum.
Aymaz was born in Bingul, in Kurdish regions of Turkey and has been living in Germany with her family since 1978.
Before elections, she was studying Political Science and at the same time was working as translator and presenter.
Akbayer born in Dersim, in Kurdish regions of Turkey and lives in Germany since 1972. She worked in the university and was a local MP in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Koln is the biggest city of Nordrhein-Westfalen Region and has above one million populations.
