Northerners make fun of southerners all the time - they call southerners puffs - posers - soft - whimps etc

I just remembered similar stereotyping in an area of Kurdistan about the area, where I came from. They were telling 1001 stereotyping stories about people of my area. To fight back I created imaginary persons from my area came to their area. These imaginary persons took advantage of the situation as stupid persons to cheat every one else to get their money and some times even their women. At the end every one zipped his mouth and didn't dare to say anything about people of my area in front of me. Whenever we were gathering to socialise all the sudden I was opening a story about one of these imaginary persons like this: 'have you heard about that man from my village came to this village..'. Before I had finished my question, each one would have left quickly.
