Germany seeks 3 year prison sentence for Kurdish politician Mustafa Çelik

Prosecutor has asked three years prison sentence for Kurdish politician Mustafa Çelik who stands trial on charges of “membership to a terror organisation active abroad” within the scope of the 129b article of German Criminal Code, which entered into force in 2002.

Within the scope of the trial that began at Celle High State Court in April, Çelik and his lawyers will present their final defense next week. The court is expected to announce its decision in the following weeks.

While the prosecutor's indictment lacks concrete accusations like in the cases against all Kurdish politicians in Germany, Çelik is accused of raising donation and organising propaganda events in Oldenburg and Hamburg cities as a PKK administrator.

39-year-old Mustafa Çelik was arrested in Bremen city last November. During his first trial at court, he called attention to the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Çelik condemned the ECHR and CPT for their silence on the isolation, stressing that Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan launched an all-out war on the Kurdish people in response to their demand and proposals for a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish question.

Addressing to the ECHR and CPT, Çelik said; "Whoever remains silent on this savagery is an accomplice to this massacre. If you don't want to be party to this crime, you must see the democratic and rightful demands of the Kurdish people."

The PKK has a great many supporters in Germany will government start arresting the many thousands of PKK supporters who are not politicians - if so they will need extremely large prisons =))
