Hi all,

Found this disturbing article on BBC.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-40553992

"According to a family survey carried out by the government, more than 54% of men and 51% of women said it was ok for a man to beat his wife if she disrespected her in-laws, neglected her home or children, or even over something as trivial as putting less - or more - salt in the food."

What is wrong with people?!!

Thank you for your post :ymapplause:

Sadly, in many cultures women are considered second class citizens

Even worse is the fact that many girls, especially in India and Pakistan, become slaves to their in-laws when they move in with their husbands families

The very reason why arranged marriages within families are often much safer for the brides than those outside their families

An Asian marriage is considered by many to be akin to putting a cold pot into a warm oven, where it warms up slowly

A Western marriages is akin to putting a hot pot into a fridge where it cools off extremely quickly
