summary of the article:

Circumcision in some part of Iran is more than the other part. these parts include Lorestan, Khoozestan, and more than the others in Kurdistan.

this cruel action is mostly a tradition in a some Arab tribes specially in north part of Africa. UN reported in 2003 that more than 97% of Egyption's married women are circumcised. Circumcision is also occurring in some part of Iran specially the Kurdistan part. UN requested from Iranian Gov. to be more serious about preventing this action against women.

Circumcision was observed in west azerbaijan, Hweraman, Bane, Nwesud, Paveh, Piranshahr and even in Urmie.

Mrs.Parvin Zabihi is one of the Kurdish women activist from Marivan (rojhalat) who wrote a book about circumcision in Iraqi kurdistan (bakur) in an interview with Deutsche Welle talked about the religious basic for this action. She said that unfortunately for most of the Kurds in these areas circumcision for women is accepted as Islamic tradition. She mentioned that there are a lot of women who suffered from this Islamic Tradition.

She said: " one of my friends is teache in Bokan (Rojhalati Kurdistan). In a class with 40 students 36 of them were circumcised. In Paveh , another kurdish city, the rate was even higher.
...
....
...
Parvin was also mentioning some kurdish activist who they are trying to fight against this cruel tradition in Tehran (capital of Iran) and kurdistan's cities. They want to have an NGO for this movement and not have it yet.

in the article said that by cutting their clitoris their attraction to male would be reduced and in a man dominant society like villages its a very good for the men to control the women. this is a very babaric action and we have to stand against it.

ya i heard before that they circumcize the women so that they won't get pleasure from sex so that sex will be strictly for the purpose of having children. i agree with you, this is a barbaric act and it should be stopped. and i searched for female circumcision and it says that it is not commanded in the Quran.

here's a link from wikipedia

No, Christians in Egypt practice it also. And in Africa, it is not only among Islamic people.
Concerning Kurds, I wonder if it does not come from Shafeism which considers that "sinet" is for females and males. Moreover Northern and Western Kurds do not practice it, but in Western, for example they are hanafits.

Well even in Kurdish society it is decreasing. For that reason, it sounds scandalous now. Social habits are revealing and denouncing when they are going to disappear. But I guess that female circumcision is still last the more among poorest social classes, in tribes and villages.

This has nothing to do with Islam ... There isn't any order in the Holy Qur'an for circumcision .
I read about this nasty habit and that it is more common in Egypt but this is the first time I know that it exists also in The Kurdish society....
people were ignorant in the past they accepted anything from anyone .... I think everyone now should fight against this cruel action where exist in his/her society ...
