The old Persian language no longer exists since it was wiped out during the Arab invasion but somehow has managed to survive. In Kerman, there is an Avesta dialect that still exists but the number is small. Here, in California, there is a big Zoroaster community; in fact I am planning to attend a session.

Also, in the Farsi language you have old (Avesta), middle, and new.

there are 4 letters in the Persian alphabet that are not in the Arabic alphabet. P and Ch as Raman said. also Zh or J in the Kurdi Latini script (like the j in bonjour) and G (in Farsi Gaph). in Arabic alphabet they also don't have the V sound. they use W (waw) where Persians typically use (vav) which can also be used as oo or u sound in both. but that is just pronunciation, it's the same letter.

The main thing is that people should have the right to choose their religion. We've seen how conversion is problem with all the groups in Kurdistan--Muslims, Yezidis, Assyrian Christians, etc. But the KRG must uphold that most basic right. No group should be favored. An individual has the right to choose his/her faith--or lack of faith, for that matter.

But we must respect that the majority of the Kurds are Muslims. We also must respect all religious minorities.

I think you guys have forgotten how many kurdish teenagers who lives outside the country are atheist. I personally live in Finland and the most of kurdish teenagers here are atheists. I don't think we kurds need any offecial religion as long as we are one.

You are right my friend. Islam was introduced to arabs because they raped, married 50 wives, killed babies and fough wars all days year around. we live in new times and we Kurds should accept all religions as long as they are kurds and do not oppose independent kurdish state.
