can help sometimes...personally I always used turkish to communicate in northern kurdistan we can assume that her boyfriend is bilingual, as most northern-kurds...

personally I use french or english indifferently with my girlfriend, so I use cute words from both languages

I don't doubt his Turkish... Probably very fluent and very good...

But I am talking about his future children and Kurdish culture and heritage...

The problem with Kurdish men is that when they marry a non-Kurd, they rarely make their wives learn Kurdish... Which means tons and tons of Kurdish heritage and oral tradition is lost with every Kurd marrying a foreigner...

Exactly! Any language is a wealth and big plus in life! Come on, if I have kids, they will speak at least 3 languages from birth...french, english, and the language of my wife!

Most of children growing in Europe are non-Kurdish speakers, even if their parents are Kurds (and if they are Northern Kurds, they spoke even Turkish at home !), if there are no courses at school for that. They understand it of course, but don't really practice it if they never go to Kurdistan for a long time.

Here in my country I see that in general in the Kurdish families parents talk to their children in kurdish, but children answer them always in italian, I guess they prefer italian because they want to be accepted by their class-mates and friends...it is sad to see that mothers don't understand what their children tell them, becuase women don't work ,stay at home and so don't learn much italian

Spas for all the romantic words tomjez. I knew some of female ones already, but not the masculine ones, so I can't wait to use them. I bet you have melted a few hearts over the years with those words . Diri the Kurdish words are super , as I feel it is very important to at least speak basic words like hello, thankyou etc.... to his family in Kurdish. I know his parents don't speak Turkish, I'm not sure about his brothers & sisters. The only thing is now my boyfriend has sent me a sms back (don't know if its Kurdish or Turkish) & I don't have a clue what it says . He must thing I have a dictionary or something, that'll teach me for trying to cheat . As for what our children should speak, slow down I haven't even married him yet . But of course to learn as many languages as possible is always the best. So I would love any children of mine to speak Kurdish, Turkish, English & many more languages if they could. I would imagine my boyfriend would encourage any children of ours to speak Kurdish, so at least they could communicate with thier grandparents.

The reason you didn't find them, is that they are not spelled correctly... Because it's not written with standard Kurdish - just his way of expressing them in with English sounds...

Ez te pir hez dikem = I want/love you a lot
Dilê min = My heart
Şirîna min = My sweety
Gewra min = My great one

Let me just give a little piece of advice while we are at it... You shouldn't use those cuddly names on him when his parents are there or somebody older than the two of you... That would be considered dis-respecting them...

No, its ok Diri I wouldn't have said those things to him in front of anyone anyway. It would be a bit embarassing for his macho image & uncomfortable for others to listen too. Even I myself would hate to be in a room with a couple who cooed over each other. Its just nice really to use those words over the phone or in sms to show how much I love & miss him. I spoke to his mother last night on the phone for the first time . My boyfriend had taught her to say "Hello, how are you?" to me in english. I asked her the same back & then we both giggled. Awww how sweet was that, how nice of her to do that, I bet shes lovely .
