Units of the YPG have made advances following clashes early yesterday morning with the Islamic State or Iraq and Syria (ISIS), al-Nusra and other al-Qaeda affiliated groups in the Çilaxa region of Girkê Legê, according to reports. Much of the fighting was centered around the villages of Til Elo, Xemer and Xerab Bajar, and followed attempts by the ISIS, al-Nusra and its allies to push the YPG from the villages.
The assault started at around 06:30 yesterday morning and continued through the day and into the evening. In the course of the fighting the YPG destroyed at least one armored vehicle and captured a tank close to the village of Til Elo, as well as a large number of small and heavy arms. The YPG also captured an al-Qaeda position in the village of Xerab Bajar. They are also reported to have killed a large number of al-Qaeda members, and to have recovered at least 35 bodies. 15 YPG fighters were also killed in the fighting.
Seperately, 75 fighters with the Free Syrian Army took refuge with the YPG after clashes with al-Qaeda near Efrin.
