#Kuwait finally decides to open a consulate in #Erbil by early next year (which was supposed to open 3 years ago);It now joins nearly 35 (including 5 Arab) other foreign diplomatic representations in #Kurdistan. Besides an embassy in #Baghdad, Kuwait will now also have consulates in Erbil and #Basrah.

Since earlier this year, Kuwaitis, alongside Emiratis and Qataris, are the only Arab nationals to receive visa-on-arrival in Iraqi Kurdistan. They join other Western nationals who receive a 15-day tourist visa.

The first-ever archaeologic excavation at the ancient #Erbil citadel --the world's oldest continously inhabited city -- results in the unearthing of a millennia old Mesopotamian wall, and more than 100 artifacts, including objects made from ivory.

With further, and deeper, digging, the local archaeologists also expect to find the mythical Temple of Ishtar (the Akkadian, Assyrian and Babylonian goddess of fertility, war, love and sex).

The leading Arab daily, Al Hayat, reports that violence against women has declined in #Kurdistan. Meanwhile, it says that women committing violence against men has increased sharply.

Meanwhile, the number of men, being victim of violence committed by women, has increased sharply since last year, due to the empowerment of women --backed by local laws in their favor-- and their financial independence from men in Kurdistan.

The article does mention that while the reported instance of violence against women has gone down considerably - there are still a far greater number of cases of violence against women than there are men - I wonder how many unreported cases there are against either sex

I do so LOVE the cartoon - time women fought back :ymapplause:
