Today, December 21, 2013, Head of Protection and Intelligence Agency in Kurdistan Region, Lahur Sheikh Jengi, declared the apprehension of an Al-Qaida Amir (a high rank inside the organization) and his brother who intended to bring other people into Sulaimani to conduct terrorist acts.“The Al-Qaida Amir and his brother were arrested near Hussainiah Mosque in Sulaimani,” said Sheikh Jengi, “and the two were dubbed wanted criminals in Baghdad and Dyiala.” They both were trying to find a suitable hideout for their colleagues in Sulaimani to conduct their terrorist operations.
Sheik Jengi further added that last night`s explosion was the complement of the two bombings that took place recently in Sulaimani as retaliation from terrorist groups from Syria for arresting their friends who return from Syria to Kurdistan Region.
Head of Protection and Intelligence Agency also pointed out that they apprehended 36 youngsters after their return from Syria who confessed they fought against PYD and Kurds in Syria, but 12 of them were set free in Halabja by a judge after collecting a 2-million-IQD fine from each of them.
Sheik Jengi also equipped that the returning youngsters are trained well on bombing and terrorist acts in Syria and that he contacted President Barzani regarding the subject of setting some of these youngsters free in Halabja by some judges.
Regarding searching and checking some mosques in Sulaimani, Sheikh Jengi stated that we have found evidence such as computers and documents that some of those mosques are turned into podiums to convince Kurdish youths to go for Jihad in Syria.
